Looks like walmart is getting out of the vinyl game.

I walked by the record section at two of my local walmarts and all the record players are on sale.

Most of their stock is crosley which i dont know much about but this audio technica bundle caught my eye.

It was originally marked for $137 but dropped to $50 after a week or two.

Cant speak to the quality of the added BT speaker but the turntable itself is a great deal.

probably very YMMV but two of the 3 local walmarts had their whole inventory marked down.

Is this a decent turntable for someone new to vinyl? I don't have one right now but would like to build a cheap usable system.

Audio Technica is generally a pretty well respected brand.

My brother has owned this turntable for about a year and it does fine.

I'm not sure it's audiophile quality or not.

Although I never really understood Bluetooth on a record player when the whole point of a turntable is for analog sound.

Yea. It's fine. Unless something is "wrong" with a turntable (uncorrectable speed error, a "hum", etc) , it's all about the cartridge. A "perfect" turntable would be a record spinning in free air, with the cartridge tracking the grooves.

FWIW...a youtuber tested the theory of a turntable damaging a record. His test was based on tracking weight. He got to some crazy amount of tracking force. No "audible" damage.

Brickseeks price will be what it rings up at in the store, if it's not marked down I wouldn't bother IMHO

Didn't know they made stuff like this. I would think people who are using such classic technology wouldn't want Bluetooth.

If you get one and like it there is an easy upgrade to the stylus that will make it sound even better (see link, these used to be $19) It is a decent entry level automatic TT but skip the Bluetooth. You don't need a phono preamp just make sure you have the selector switch in the proper place per instructions and hook it up to some powered speakers, or into any amp aux input with regular speakers.
