Costco has the 2.6 qt Emile Henry tagine online for 39.97 (45.54 including tax and shipping). This is the lowest I have ever seen it. Normally a sale price for it is around 100. Apparently, it could even be lower in the warehouse but I haven't seen it in our store.

could make tasty chicken cacciatore with it, except it's too small for whole chicken... still tempting.

i need a lightweight stewpot but can't find how much it weighs when empty. can you give me a guessimate of its empty weight? TIA
I just checked mine, it's actually the same size as this one, just an older model. (2.6Qt)

It's pretty light, it weighs 6lb 8oz. It's definitely lighter than enameled cast iron.

I don't see it as an either/or. They serve different purposes. I have a Staub cocotte and love it. I also love tagines. They are more fragile but in compensation the flavors are amazing and you can't beat the presentation.
lol, they both do the same thing, except one is more versatile. There would be no difference in a blind taste test.

flavors are the same... would be nice to have, but not really enough differentiation to justify the additional space needed. IF I had a bigger kitchen, I would consider.

Isn't the flavor in the seasoning?

I love my enameled aluminum Dutch oven. I have the oval version of this:

The 4 qt. is $30 and just under four pounds.
