Nice deal. There are very rare laptops at this price range have hdmi2.0 port and thunderbolt that support 4k@60Hz on an external 4k monitor.

Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but I don't see that listed on the product page or the Acer website. I ask only because I purchase the Intel version from Walmart a week ago and that definitely listed thunderbolt 4 on the Walmart page and the Acer website.

USB Type-C Detail
USB Type-C port supporting:
USB 3.2 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps)
DisplayPort over USB-C
USB charging 5 V; 3 A
DC-in port 19 V; 65 W

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/con....AB1AA.001

It is rather confusing USB 3.0 = 3.1 = 3.2 Three names for the same thing.
Only the gen matters. Gen 2 allows doubles data and Gen 2x2 doubles it again. It goes to 10 GB/sec on Gen 2 and two channels of that in Gen 2x2

Display port is a name for Thunderbolt.

Quad channels lpddr4x is still a rarity. There's a few XPS laptop out there with it but a large majority of budget laptop are not on quad channels. This is laptop isn't.
This review is consistent with quad but not proof it is. Not enough information.

If the specs on that page are accurate, your laptop weights almost 5 lbs, which puts it in a very different class than this one.
Just under 3 pounds on my scale. 5lbs must be for the box and everything. It is skinny and light.

Please pay attention to memory, it's LPDDR4X, while Low-Power (LP) DDR might be more energy efficient it has 2/3rd of a performance to DDR4 (4266Mbps vs 6400Mbps). With 8Gb it becomes more challenging to fit any resource hungry game or photo editing requirements into this laptop. Although general purpose work like Microsoft documents, ppt, web- surfing, netflixing should be just fine.

Seriously, why beef up the rest of the machine and leave it with a paltry 8GB?
I came here to basically say this -- how is this even a deal when it's stuck on 8GB memory for over $600?

I bought one of these 2 months ago from Amazon for $611. I blew away Windows and put Fedora 34 on it. This thing is great!
It's light, feels well made with plenty of power...I'd buy again in a heartbeat!!

I do not see much in the $600 range with more than 8GB of memory. The ones I could find are mainly standard 15.6" laptops rather than thin and light ones.

Acer store seems to have a deal [$700] on this (model: Swift 3 Laptop - SF313-52-78W6) [https://store[DOT]acer.com/en-us/...3-52-78w6] 13.5" screen laptop. Any input if this is a better option? I am an average user (barely/light gaming, no need for GPU intense editing). Looking to buy something with 16GB RAM to [immediate] future proof. Also, any input on ease of returns with acer if not satisfied would be highly appreciated?

Did you try the $600 Costco Lenovo laptop - 16 GB RAM, 300 nits, thin?

LPDDR4x is a rarity I was surprised to see it in this one. I had read about it in the CPU's improvement. Wondered why they were soldering. But only the soldered RAM is this fast.

Not sure how you know it does not do quad. I would love to see your proof. The article I read indicated they would all do quad. The performance app would show dual because of the two memory controllers. Dual memory controllers but each doing dual channel.

This is the article that led me to the other article I posted.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDLapto...adchannel/
I know its not the same model but this article says dual channel under the specs of the memory:

Im on the fence now bc of the comments in this thread about half the bandwidth and also the comment made here about the Gateway being snappier
