I have this and would not recommend. The chain comes off regularly and forget about about being able to cut really high thick branches. I just got a hand saw which works surprisingly faster than this pole saw. But ymmv
Chain for this is SWJ-10CHAIN. Looks like it runs about $15 or a bit less for a generic. Impossible to justify having one professionally sharpened given the cost. More power to you if you can do it yourself.
How often does the chain need sharpening or replacement? Thanks.
I tried this but the weight balance on this thing is all wrong. It's very heavy at the end so extremely difficult to handle. A gas powered model is heavy at the handle and light at the bar so it's very easy to control. It's usable but you'll be much happier with a gas model. But thisis much cheaper than a gas model.

You probably don't have the chain tension set. Never had a problem with chain falling off.
I bought one of these in a previous sale. Broke on the first day of heavy use/abuse while removing an oak tree from on my house. If you need a chainsaw on a pole, this or any of the other $50ish ones are worth the price.

Definitely depends on what you're cutting, and I am not an expert.
Also depends on how tolerant you are of using a less-than-very-sharp chain.
I've heard from pros (where time is money) that they'll do a quick sharpen every two tanks of gas (in a gas chainsaw).
If I just had to throw a number out there.... let's say one is cutting 2" diameter branches.... brand new chain will cut like butter for 30 branches, cut well for 30 branches, cut ok for 30 branches, and get slower after that.
Chain can dull real fast if you hit a rock or the driveway or even the ground.

9". But that's a lot of weight for a branch. It's 10" so that's why. But as mentioned a purple one is only $57 at Amazon.
