Vacuum wars YouTuber liked this one. Powered turbo brush roller head is a bonus inclusion.

FWIW, I got the Dyson V11 at Costco on sale and it is for pet hair but also has a hand vac option that works great. If you are looking to upgrade your regular vacuum anyway, I would go this route instead of two separate vacuums. They have two cheaper models and if you don't need one right away, wait for a sale (probably a good one on Black Friday). Also, would buy from Costco because of their warranty.

My vac criteria:

If you plan to use a vac more than a few minutes at a time, get one with a cord.
If you plan to vac upholstery and want to pick up more than the stuff laying loose on the surface, get one with a cord.
Unless it is a robot vac, almost always, get one with a cord.
Suction/wind powered brush bars are useless.
Robot vac for hard surfaces only. They are just pretending to clean carpet.
Avoid way overpriced cool looking mediocre performing stuff from Dyson.

I was going to get it to clean the car, but I honestly worry about how long suction would last. Better to get corded?

Is this a worthwhile purchase for getting dog hair out of car interiors?
I bought this the last time it showed up on SD. For a cordless handheld it works well on flat surfaces but not so well on contoured surfaces.
The working time seems short to me before needing recharged. And seems to take forever to recharge. I say "seems" because I don't have a reference point as this was my first cordless vac. I used a cored handheld Dirt Devil Model 103 forever. Finally wore it out. I may see if I can find parts to rebuild it.

I have an old dustbuster I got for $25 at k-mart years ago and it's dying, only holds a charge for 3 or 4 minutes which isn't even long enough to clean up around the cat box which is all I need one for. What I don't like about this Bissel is there's no wall mounted charging option, so it just plugs in and lays on a shelf or wherever you have room, also the 3 part filter system means taking the front off, taking the filter out, disassembling the 2 part inner and outer filters to dump it then reassemble the 2 part filter, put that back in the machine and then the front part reattaches to the machine. Seems like a tedious pain in the ass to me, plus it's double the price compared to basic dustbuster type models. I just want something powerful enough to clean up around the cat box, that I can yank off the wall and plop back on the wall, and empty without taking 3 or 4 things apart.

I mean, I dont know. it came with my Dyson, I have a few of them. I have 2 ryobi shop vacs, the large one and small 18v ones, I use lithium batteries. but I toss the pet attachment on it, and works beautifully. I use it to clean my cat tree/furniture/random stuff, bedsheets etc, but its small portable, you can carry it anywhere.

I have to believe the 18v ryobi lithium battery is going to be stronger than that thing in OP. you can get the ryobi on sale for 50 bucks often.

this is what I use

I had a giant corded shop vac I never really used much for years because it didn't come with anything useful for cleaning the car, and that's really all I wanted a shop vac for (someone got me it for a gift) and never could find attachments for it that were useful for cleaning the car. Then I found a $10 set of 1.5" attachments on amazon that included an adapter to convert the giant full size shop vac hose to the 1,5" attachments, which included crevice tools with brushes and flat brush for carpets - that setup is an absolute beast suction power wise, since it's funneling the big 2.5" hose down to 1.5" plus the power of the giant corded shop vac. Anyway, my kids work on the beach all summer, the dog likes to ride in the back, and I haul mulch and dirt around and this setup sucks the sand and pet hair / dirt up in one pass, cleaning the entire 7 passenger SUV takes under 10 minutes and it comes out like new. I haven't had a vacuum do such a nice job or clean the car so fast since the old Sears cannister vac from the 1960's I inherited from my grandma finally broke, and that thing made the lights dim when it ran it sucked so much power. Clearly my setup is not in any way a solution for portable vac uses, but you could duplicate it for under $80 and never match the suction power no matter how much more you spend.

I also have a hobjob mix of assorted items. I have step downs, step ups, extensions etc, but I use my little ryobi box, with 4ah 18v lithium battery with my little attachments, and it does what I need it to do.

I only pull the big one out, if I need something large scale, like garage floor or something idk. rarely use it. I bought both on a whim.

I treasure this little guy, super convenient, its light, I keep it beside my cats litter too. I have one of those litter Matt trappers, where they step out, it catches all the litter, but I just turn it on, and I can suck the entire mat clean in like 1 minute, before it used to be such a chore. I charge the battery up like once a month.

you can get it from direct tool online or Home Depot etc, for 50 bucks new often. goes on sale quite often. I paid 100 bucks and no regrets, small enough you can carry just as easy as OP's and 3 year warranty to boot.

90 day return policy if you just dont care for it

wouldn't even try to use the crummy black ryobi batteries. 4ah or better lithium+ batteries are what I recommend, (I throw away the black batteries that come with tools) absolute garbage

I have one of these and two cats. I like mine, but if I want something really clean, I need something a bit more powerful. I have to do a couple of passes sometimes to get everything with this one. For the price, though, what do you expect?

My handheld Dyson is awful. The charging port shocks me and it performs terribly.
