They do not force a subscription, you can record locally to an SD card and access that recording via the app, live view also via app and web (local recordings not available on the web I believe, just cloud). However as another user noted this does not integrate to the Eufy home base so recordings are only stored on the local SD. There is a cloud storage subscription option if you like (ranging from 2.99/mo for 1 camera to 10 for 9.99 and I think another higher tier) but again not required.
For the price, features, no fees, affordable cloud storage 24/7 recording to Micro SD card, 2K res, h.265 compression, etc, these are the best cameras on the market by far.
Not following, I have a few versions of the Eufy cams and love them, they work great for what I need them for and no extra costs. Are these a serious top end security camera? Nope. But different folks have different use cases.

Do they charge a monthly subscription? Some do some don't and trying to get away from that.

I've had these for about 6 months so I'll give my 2 cents - we keep these on inside our house when we leave and our dogs are home alone so we can see what they are doing (and yell at them if it's negative) and also just for general security. The night vision is great, app and alerts works good and I got 2 for around the same price so I'm pretty happy with them. Cons - Chinese manufacturer so who knows if your information gets stored, the sd card video files are only usable inside the camera (can't put into pc), NVR recording is doable and that's the next step but if you want to bypass using the eufy app then you'll miss out on the detection/alert features. Overall for my need it works great and I recommend everyone get some sort of camera inside their home when it's empty, but be prepared to shell money out for cloud services or a NVR if you want the video saved somewhere besides the sd card which can be physically removed if someone gets inside your home.

Wait, this is compatible with an NVR, like it has RTSP or ONVIF?

Good Cameras, the only gripe I have with these is the forced all motion detection at night and if you have heavy traffic or shadows or even high winds be warned your phone will be blown up with notifications. But other than that people detection is pretty good.
