The zigzag one has a different look and size of 2x4 cubes. For comparison u can always get 2x3 for $29.99 most of the time at target or big lots. And for 3x3 they are available at $36-$40 at lowes and big lots. For reference. But those are mainstream so they come in white or black and everyone has them.
So $44.19 for me is a good deal but the msrp strikes as a bit high if anything for something that looks different. And if 2x4 is something that really tickles your fancy otherwise it's decent but not wow. Design is kinda African for me like safari.
It's particleboard nothing against it but they are all the same material. I dont think any entity will offer real wood unless u pay north of $100. Everything sub will always be mdf or particleboard. I've built a handful of these and I looked everywhere. In for one. They probably will last centuries but not a millennia. Who will live that long or even care for what u got long after we die… particleboard is practical for the non-elitist or most ppl.
If u need something in the room that's 70" and don't mind a lightweight bookshelf, big lots usually got a 70" that requires top anchoring (u will need to buy anchor Home Depot for under $10). I adapted corner braces for a cheap substitute for anchoring at top as the provided one from big lots is flimsy. And by design weight is evenly distributed so bad design bc really need to be bottom-heavy to prevent tipping over. But easy to fix with an anchor on top. I provide following link but these are not on sale. But cost-effective. U may want to get 6- to 8-inch corner braces as 3-inch is barely adequate depending on spacing between shelf and wall. U will need to drill a hole in wall, stud preferred. U may want to get your own screws + drywall anchor and your own 2.5"-3" interior screws to ascertain the stability.
