Does Bluetooth only add an additional method of connecting to the bulbs? You can still use the hue bridge right?

yes, i believe with bluetooth you don't need the bridge aside from extensive features/controls.

You cannot use the bridge with the Bluetooth versions of the bulbs.

Edit: It appears this version has both Bluetooth and hub support. There are versions of the bulbs that are Bluetooth-only, but its not these ones.

You can connect the bluetooth bulbs to the hub or use them separately with just the app. If you decide to use them with only your phone or tablet, there is a Hue BT app you'll need. If you choose to use a hub, then you'll just use the regular Hue app.

Word of advice, use the hub. I set some BT ones up for my dad using the BT app and they started acting wonky within a week. I deleted them then added them to a hub and they've been rock solid for several months now. Something about using the BT app messes them up.

Good luck!

I guess this is the same as the 4-pk @ Costco per bulb. Will wait for a further discount.

Just yesterday I read on the company web page that all hue bulbs work with the bridge. Bluetooth offers a lower cost of adoption for a couple bulbs.

Do the brighter bulbs have the same color representation? I recall back to the older versions of the 800 lumen bulbs which couldn't do greens and blues very well...
