Costco T-Mobile generally gives back tradein value back in visa/master gift card after a month or two. So it is easy for people who want pay upfront rather than waiting for credits over 2 years.

I think the way Magenta Max works out, it's generally either a net positive or neutral in terms of overall cost if you are able to leverage the Max trade-in bonuses on every line on the account. For example if you have 4 lines on your account, but you only trade-in one phone and get the extra credit from Max, you are paying way more per month than it is worth. But if you eventually upgrade all 4 lines and get a similar credit on all of them, it at least equals in the increase in monthly bill and may even exceed it.

I have 2 lines with T-Mobile, line 1 has EIP on OnePlus 8 which I intend to trade in for Pixel 6. Line 2 has no EIP. Can I swap the SIM and "upgrade" from line 2 without paying off the EIP on line 1 and continue to receive credit on line 1?

In the end, I would expect two EIP on my account. The original EIP for OnePlus (now traded-in), and the new EIP for the new Pixel 6?

I did some search on Reddit and it seems if trading in to Apple or Best Buy, they don't care if the phone still has EIP on it with T-mobile. But, I didn't find any answer for trading the T-Mobile EIP phone back to T-mobile.

It's fine. They don't care if you swap the sim later.

We are on the old one all in plan so don't want to touch it. Pay $80 a month for 3 lines, with taxes and fees. Upgraded 2 lines to pixel 6 from 3a. $300 is a great price for a great phone.

Ugh I swear tmobile is such a pain for trade ins - Razer Phone 2 - yes or no for trade in?

Cause it should be 300 off if traded in for any plan.

$300 off: iPhone: iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, 6, 6 Plus, SE2; Samsung: A20, A20s, A30, A50, A50s, A51, A70, A8+, A9, S7, S7 Edge, S8, S8+, Note5, Note8, Note8+; Google Pixel 2, 2XL, Pixel 3, 3XL, Pixel 3a, 3aXL; LG: G7 ThinQ, G7 open mkt, G7 fit open mkt, LG Velvet, G8 ThinQ, G8X ThinQ, K51, Stylo6, V35 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ; OnePlus: 5, 5T, 6, 6T; moto Z4, RED Hydrogen One, Razr Phone, Huawei P20Lite, Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2)

Anyone have any ideas?

I have the Magenta Max plan & I traded with my paid off A71 5G (earlier Samsung trade-in deal) with $899.99 off which comes out around $81 total out of pocket after 24 months ($74 taxes + $7 shipping).

Here's my breakdown:
$150 - DP due today ($900-$150 total mo $31.25=$750รท24)
$7 - shipping
$74 - est. taxes
=$231 Up Front Cost

-$750 - $31.25x24 due monthly
-$231 Up Front Cost
+$825 Actual Recurring Bill Credit ($31.25+$3.13 extra = $34.38x24)
+$75 One-time bill credit (2 cycles)
= -$81.11 TOTAL actual out of pocket cost after 24 months

Note: Most numbers are rounded off for simplicity.

I hope my math helps out someone because their numbers are kind of confusing and is not showing out of pocket cost for people already with the Max plan.

Oh & yes, you save the $30 upgrade for doing it online.
I have the A71 from the Samsung Deal as well. So you paid off the device, but should continue to get the remaining credits right? I need to make sure all my math works out before I make my upgrade case to my wife laugh out loud

Thank you, so just to make sure, T-mobile doesn't check the IMEI of the traded-in phone to see if it is still on an EIP?

I have first responder plan and only see Magenta Max offer (which I don't want to upgrade). Anyone else having similar issue or know a workaround?

yes they do check the imei of the trade-in phone. you have to pay it off first then you can trade it in. after you receive the new phone. you can use it on any line.
