The OnePlus 9 is a fine phone if you want something that competes with flagships, but it has a lot of drawbacks. It doesn't get frequent updates, its build quality is questionable, its camera is just okay, and OnePlus service is awful, as is their especially restrictive warranty service that looks for reasons to disqualify you. A lot of people seem really unhappy at the switch to ColorOS, too.
It's not that the OnePlus 9 is a bad phone in itself, it's just not really as good as the Pixel 6 for the same price. Granted, the Pixel 6 might come with some unexpected issues we don't know about yet, but on paper, it just seems superior at that price point.
The only advantages I know of that the OnePlus 9 has over the Pixel 6 is faster Warp Charging speeds, which can be a big deal if you're a super heavy user who constantly worries about battery, and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

OnePlus is one of those companies who started with a great concept -- but over time is now changing.
