So I have both since launch day for both respective products and I actually agree. You won't see any change in the functionality and the new remote isn't a huge leap forward. You can actually buy the remote itself for $50 MSRP if you REALLY wanted it. That being said this is the best price I've seen for the latest gen. You can't go wrong with either box but I feel at $80 the previous gen at Walmart is the best value.
If you add two 32gb and one 64gb it will work for $80 off.

I tried to add 3 to the cart, but it would not allow me. I have not tried calling the customer service but someone can give that a try. If you can buy 3, price would be even lower with $80 off 3 Apple TVs

You should be able to buy 1 or 2 Apple TVs and one or two other qualifying smart home items (for example, several Costco routers have been posted recently), and get the $80 off of 3 items. Just noting as this adds flexibility.

(Note: edited remainder of post, cheapest qualifying item is $139.)

I finally bit and got that one. Can't imagine paying double for the latest.

I just bought this hoping it would resolve the eARC/ARC handshake issues I was having with the previous gen. But the issue still persists. I have the Sony X950G as my TV. I bought HDMI cables from monoprice certified for eARC. Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this? The issue occurs with dolby atmos sound, where it will cut out from time time whenever i'm streaming something with dolby atmos. Ironically, i've found that turning off the eARC output on my TV resolves this issue.

150 each! Too expensive!!
As a poor person, I can totally understand this sentiment!

(I bought one at Staples with PMing to Costco and paying with $80 Rewards and discounted Staples GCs bought at Kroger)
