Does anyone have any insight on which model is better the one that ships with Windows 10 or with Windows 11? Is there a general consensus on which one is likely to have the Samsung VRAM? I have both and need to return one so just trying to figure out which one I should return.

Hi guys,

I wanted to share the Zentimings observation on my laptop. I am comparing this to the Jarrod's timings and I see the exact timings as of the new memory from Jarrod's which is good, but not for the other part tRRDS, tRRDL, and tFAW. It is matching the same as that of the old one.

But I strongly believe the tRFC timings matter the most. So, if you happen to run the ZenTimings, and you see the attached timings ... I believe you will see good performance in games, the way it was meant to be and no need to swap out the memory unless you're going to 32 GB. That is approximately $103 upgrade - {$sale of old memory}.

My Graphics card NVRAM is Micron and not Samsung.

Please see the attached image.

I have other 3070 laptops and none of my older ones (MSI, Dell, Lenovo models) came with micron vram on the 3070. They all had Samsung vram. My guess is the newer models will be more likely to have micron. I was pretty shocked to see this much of a performance gap on mining however I am not sure how it will translate to games. For mining you are looking at a 10%-13% decrease in performance combined a 10%-15% increase in power. Granted this is only a sample of 2 laptops with the micron memory and perhaps others will have better results.

Mine shipped with Windows 11 and it came with Micron NVRAM. Manufacture shipment date on the box is Oct 2021. So, it is the latest but not sure it is Micron across. Also, as I posted earlier ... the system memory timings are better than what they used to. Please check the screenshot above with reference to Jarrod's youtube video.

I found it in stock but its a far store. Every time I try to ship from that store it changes to my local store and says out of stock.

Is there a way to get them to ship it to me from a far store?

For anyone not overclocking and mining, there should be virtually zero difference. This would also be why Lenovo would have no issue swapping from likely more expensive but available Samsung vram to cheaper but now available Micron vram. Without overclocking, you're not going to see a difference in performance. If you want a best of the best laptop miner, maybe do some more searching. If you want the best gaming laptop for the best value on the market? This is still king.

You need to do more reading. That's a third party seller. Buy only from Walmart…

How are you guys checking if it's Samsung VRAM or Micron VRAM? Just be going into the settings? I'm excited to check and want to make sure I do that the second I get the laptop.

I understand that, I was using it as a reference. The $1400 isn't even on the site anymore, and I was wondering if it that was normal before restock? Or if that was the "final" chance to get it?

Download GPU-Z. Easy to find with a google search. Opening it will display a bunch of stats about your computer. On the part that says "Memory Type" it will display your memory type and the manufacture in parenthesis. So if Samsung, it should say something like GDDR6 (Samsung). If Micron, it would say GDDR6 (Micron). EZPZ

Yes it's normal. Sometimes it says 1529 and sometimes it's says 1399. Also it will say 1829 when it's a third party seller. Keep checking as stock comes in and out depending on your location as well.
