There's a war going on between the electric and gas providers, and the electric providers seem to gain the upper hands, on ground that gas appliances create pollution and unhealthy. They even have some govt authorities on their side, with plans to ban gas appliances in the future
Well natural gas is a fossil fuel and fracking is bad, plus some states\power companies are not allowing homeowners to setup their own solar systems. Problem is both want to get paid, no matter what we choose. Let homeowners go Full solar\wind or whatever (without paying fees to the power company) and ditch the grid, then let them choose what type of gas appliance they want to use. Gas generators can still be used as an backup or emergency. I think the major (petrol) gas polluter are cars, which is different from natural gas companies, but leave it to the gas companies to frack up everything and mess up all the water in the for current and future generations. Nice stove though, love the griddle feature

Seriously? Here you get massive rebates for switching to gas. If you go natural gas with 3 appliances they you can get a free tankless heater...
I believe its more of a population density issue for States like California, too many people and not enough resources to ensure everyone can be served adequately

Save yourself.
Repeat after me: NO anything GE!
Why do you say that?

All my kitchen appliances are GE and they work just fine. Gas range was bought in 1999 - it till works, it looks work and scratched on the outside - that's why it is being replaced. Rest of GE appliances were purchased in 2004 and are still go strong.

review said the oven doesn't do convection cooking, can anyone confirm? Looked on the Home Depot site and there was no mention of convection.
No, it is not a convection oven. Although gas convection ovens have a fan and often called an air fryer option, they, do not seem to work as well as electric convection. An electric convection oven typically has a third heating element in the back with a fan that preheats any new air to then circulate. The only reason I know is that I have also been pricing for a kitchen renovation.

I like this stove, but I also like induction cook tops that especially for electric stove tops, don't heat up the house in summer with hot burners long after you have turned off.

I actually ran across this yesterday myself. Was about to pull the trigger but I was bothered by the number of reviews saying it apparently isn't very well insulated and leaks an inordinate amount of heat. Also some may mentions of trim pieces popping off, and the griddle losing its coating really fast.

Decided to pass.

Do you have a link you can share please? Edit. Is model JXGRATE1 the correct center grate for this?

California can push electric stoves because they're also pushing solar panels.

If you have solar, electric stoves are cheaper/free to run.

If you don't have solar, gas stoves are cheaper to run. (And cook better)

I have my gas shut off every spring and turn it back on for winter every year for my furnace. I can't stand gas fees
