Filled full of crap little bits.
I realize that these aren't pro quality tools, but over the last few years I've picked up a set similar to this for every one of my vehicles. They are a fantastic value if you want to have a full set of tools with case that you can leave in a car or truck and not think about it until you need it.
So you don't fault a company that takes advantage of grandmas.

I don't fault companies that do this. These are often bought as a gift. Would Grandma rather buy a 209 piece or a 309 piece.
I just need a full set of tall sockets

You and I have a different definition of take advantage of. They are still tools.

I don't disagree with you the only thing I'm taking issue to is the way you laid your argument. I like Kobalt and I have a bunch of tools from brands that the first poster would consider crap (Ryobi, HF, etc) and I think this is a great tool set for a diy-er or someone that wants to keep some tools in their garage to work on a car or motorcycle.

With that being said my argument to the person you responded to would have been all the items that come in the set are listed you can review it and see if it fits your needs or not. They are doing this to keep cost low for people that may not need anything more than what this has to offer.

The problem with your argument is that it pushes someone to feel that Kobalt is trying to take advantage of someone.

In any case it is just a difference of opinion.

Great set of tools for the weekend mechanic. Ive used kobalt tools religiously for my auto projects and have yet to have any break. Ya it comes with a ton of extra garbage, but the ratchets are worth it alone. I'm honestly surprised mine hasn't broke yet, I use a huge leverage bar in conjunction with the 3/8 ratchet often and still works great.

I get what you are saying. It wasn't my intention to make people have lesser of an opinion of Kobalt. Almost all mechanics tool sets are filled with fillers. We know those sets as a collection of sockets and ratchets but Grandma knows them as a mechanic's toolset. Those bits are tools, and so, let's let Grandma be happy she found a deal on a 309 piece tool set. Little Johnny is going to be so happy.
That said, I need to find a deal on a full set of deep sockets.

The Husky 264-piece (or close to that number) is the kit to get at $99. It is mostly sockets and not filled with 150 pieces of garbage. It will be on sale for BF Soon. It's actually in the HD stores now up on the overhead.

Is it in a thin case like this? Not a boxy toolbox

I'm going to return the $99 Craftsman 239 pieces set I just got. The box is ridiculously large and heavy. This one looks like it is much thinner.

I only see husky sets in 211 pieces or 290 pieces, nothing close to 264.

I had it hanging by the handle for years, and it broke off lol. fell to the ground, but that said I paid like 69 bucks for this kit.

Havnt ever used it, but damn if I need to, I have it for portable car repair.

edit.. the one I have opens up like a book, and had way more tools. mine is like 200+ piece kit. ignore handle comment
