I got the microcenter deal and just finished up adding a second z-axis stepper. Literally haven't even loaded filament yet and grabbed one of these. I figure I'll just keep them both

Sold and shipped by "Creality 3D Printer authorized", a seller with only 19 ratings. The price is attractive, but I feel like I have no idea who I'm buying from here, and no idea what I'm *actually* going to receive.

This or wait for another $100 ender 3 deal from microcenter?
Definitely this. I've been wanting the micro center deal but every time they run it my local store is out of stock. I have one of the original ender 3s but at this point the only thing stock is the frame because I used that to make all my mistakes on and I'd really like another solid printer that I don't really have to modify.

This OK to use out of the box? I always see people talking about all the mods and tinkering you have to do, I'm looking for something that doesn't take a huge time commitment. Thanks.

For those of us just getting this and starting out, any recommendations for a good general-purpose filament for doing some initial prints besides the white PLA that comes with it?
I've been using GST from Facebook. $7.99 a roll if you buy 10

If you can afford it I'd definitely recommend this. Use the ender 3 to tinker if you plan on modifying one as it stands to gain the most from modification. You can learn a lot and still have a stock printer to print new parts when the need arises.
