To put this drive in perspective, the Crucial P5 that was on sale yesterday for $44 has significantly better specs (both are TLC), well worth a $4 premium:

Read: 3400 vs 2500 MB/s
Write: 3000 vs 865 MB/s
MTBF: 300TBW vs 150TBW

The coupon code on the P5 has expired (blah blah time machine blah blah), but SSD / NVMe prices are starting to drop again, so just keep in mind what you're getting for your money.

anyone looking to buy this drive, make sure to update the controller firmware (silicon motion 2263xt), it's the main reason there are a lot of faulty drive reviews on the page

Any recommendations on an enclosure? Amazon seems to be all over on reviews.

Let me check my last buy! $14 on a epic deal in June! So I would wait for a BF deal at Amazon and use the free returns option if it is a bad unit.

Had one of 3 brands to fail but threw the bad one away. Let me search my parts pile!

Mokin still working BTW!

Newegg deal but 3rd party! $14

I usually leave my case open and the M.2 sticking up at a 45 degrees for cloning (large transfers these get hot in the case if it's a hight speed unit/ the unit onsale is not a high speed unit so heating should not be a large issue).

Normal flash drive action should not be a problem. I did see one with a built in fan but it was not cheap.

The one that failed was a China ebay buy!
