For about $60 you can build your own floating desk pretty easily.
Ikea's the better way to go, floating desk or not. We were looking at desks for my daughter and put together a full sized ones with drawers for less than these various kits.
What did you do for the desktop. What's the material? Did you have to anything to the side or corner edge? What's the finish on it?
Thanks!
I measured out the space in the closet of the one small spare room I have in my house and chose a tabletop size that would fit the dimensions.
If you're mounting to a wall without those same constraints though, then any size tabletop will do
Really the thing you want to look out for is making sure the shelving brackets are rated for decent weight and will extend a little past halfway to avoid potential sag over time since the cheaper ikea tabletops are made of laminated partical board (if I were doing it over again I'd have spent a little extra on a nicer tabletop)
I used a stud finder to locate the studs that I thought would be best to mount the brackets to with some exterior multi material screws and a drill and then some small wood screws to mount the tabletop to the brackets.
Took less than half an hour to be honest and I'm not the most handy person in the world

If you have a Cost Plus World Market near you or can get one shipped, go for they Tatum desk. Great value if space isn't too much of an issue.
