Over the years, I've lost most of my confidence in amazon negative reviewers, a very high percentage of them seem to frequently be invalid complaints. For example, one of the 5 negative reviews complains that there is no microphone, but there actually is one. So: operator malfunction. The instructions say "Some features, and microphone, require software download (storage required); not supported on Mac OS." Obviously they did not follow instructions. One of the positive reviewers mentions that you have to download the software to make video adjustments to the camera, I very strongly suspect this is the source of the other 4 negative reviewers' complaints about video quality - I suspect they did not download the software either, and the camera defaults to low quality video without it. I'm leaning towards buying it myself just to see if my theory is correct.

I placed my order after looking at a few video reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-X-EWx2H7U

Video quality seems excellent for video calls and casual streaming. Microphone seems pretty solid for the price point as well.

Unfortunately Amazon reviews not that good. 3/5, mention poor video quality.

I think that's either user error or potential macOS compatibility issues.

Here's a sample video (and comparisons to the logitech C920) (set video player to 1080p): https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...webcam-xa0

Very good points. Many negative reviews are simply people that do not know how to use an item. Or had a shipping problem etc.

The star rating Amazon shows is a combination of reviews and ratings, and they use a secret algorithm that takes things into account like the age of the rating, who left it, to come up with a final stars like 4.4/5.

Was gonna pull the trigger but If the mic needs a software download then it's a no go for my work computer that has installs blocked. Oh well. Thanks for pulling that info up.

Tried adding to cart.... Several times. I get this: 'Your cart is empty. Need Help? Call 1-877-696-7786'

Seriously, Microsoft??? Amazing these 'software companies' can't even get this web storefront to work.

The camera is very good. The venerable Logitech C920 is better all around. The Mic on this is just okay. Not as good as the Logitech C920 and it's variants. You have to install the Microsoft accessory center app (Windows store) to enable the microphone and other settings. Otherwise the default is the microphone is off.
