Mountain Hardwear is not an off brand, and is considered one of the major brands in outdoor gear - similar to TNF, Marmot, etc. They're similar quality to Patagonia, with a focus more on technical activities rather than "everyday outdoor".

Any comments on the Mt Eyak/2? 600 RDS sounds great as a mid-layer, no?

Also it is 5% CB on Rak u ten.

I'm thinking it would be but these mountain hardwear deals are happening frequently. I'm wondering if there's a better alternative to wait for... Maybe the ghost whisperer will go on sale for $100 or am I dreaming?

I have ghost whisperer 2 in Minnesota and that's a little heavier down fill rating. It's pretty comfy into the 30's as a main layer. 600rds will likely be more so into the 40's~ as a mid layer or main with a long sleeve kinda setup.

Good buy if you have a shell setup already I think

Truth, check outdoor gear lab website for down jacket reviews. Every piece of gear I have or bought from their reviews is exactly-as-reviewed for better or worse. They absolutely nail it.

FYI, if you're looking at the Men's Mt Eyak/2™ Jacket, a far better deal is this one from Costco: https://www.costco.com/gerry-men%...57652.html

- 650 vs 600 fill power
- 3 zippered pockets vs 2
- 2 interior pockets vs none

Just a suggestion. I like Mountain Hardware (Columbia) apparel, but the Costco is half the price ($35) and the quality is just as good, if not better.

I tried on the ferry the other day. It's boxy with no stretch. Not good for activity

I put about 17 trail hikes on mine. You should have sized down. I did and it performs and fits very well.
