I personally prefer the Bessey bas23 2k. https://www.amazon.com/Bessey-VAS...CLAMP_VISE
The pivoting clamp heads allow you to clamp round objects and angles other than 90. I also find it works best for picture frames because my miters are never a perfect 90 due to warpage, and it pulls them real tight. Also has a longer strap.
This one time, at band clamp...
But when you'd need to use it, it be back at MSRP.

Any reason to use this over just some regular ratchet straps?
I think it depends what you are doing with it. If you are making picture frames, it's going to be a pain to use ratchet straps. In fact, I have the ratcheting version of this, and I'll probably pick this up anyway. I prefer the fine control for small objects instead of a jolting ratchet.
i have a random no-name chinese brand of this same tool (looks identical) that i got for same price at amazon and its great for frames. I've made picture frames and cabinet door frames with it and has been super useful for getting everything lined up after gluing
