CPU mark 1924 should be good for chrome os. I've used cloud ready on older slower and was fine.
Metal laptop 4gb ram 13inch screen and company owned by Google now. Seems like very fair price
Bought one to play with. My OG Toshiba Chromebook was great for having around the house and only when the hinges broke did I stop using it. Speed was fine for Netflix and those illegal streaming sites.
I have no need for this but whatever. I'll find something to do with it.
Update: I've only used for about hour over last two days but clearly for price it is deal.
??I am not able to connect to my 2.4 wifi getting out of range error even after chromebook update, reboot and router reboot. 5ghz great on this chromebook. Anyone else have issues?
- keyboard and case seem like $200+ chromebook and better than Motile M142 SD.
- touchpad double finger click, zoom and scroll seem fine.
- After update and login to my google account it seems similar speed as my Motile Ryzen for netflix, amazon prime vid, youtube and browsing. (my motile has 16gb RAM)
- I do use Ublock O and privacy badger so not sure if that helps?
- I am used to chromebooks so understand that:
1- Zoom works with extension. I've not hosted zoom, meet etc on chromebooks/cloudready much but it works just attendee or my second device when presenting lessons the last year.
2- Office Word, outlook, powerpoint in the browser using my corp paid account works pretty well. Good enough i think BUT i have main beast desktop with dual 34inc 32gb ram etc so i don't really use the other ones full time. Others would have to chime in on how cloud only word etc for daily use is.
3- Printing to my network printer works fine AND plugging in a usb printer using the included dongle prompts for setup. I only printed not scan so YMMV.
4- Bluetooth headphone seem to have same or better range than my other computers (Samsung buds 2)
5- Wifi speed and range same, but i did have strange error at boot and first login to 2.4 wifi said out of range, but 5 ghz was fine...router was right next to me.
6- Battery life? too soon to tell
I might give away to adult niece that has not computer and only needs to work online training occasionally
Edit #2: I'm still getting wifi connect issues to my 2.4 network even after router reboot. "out of range" but 5g is good? humm
7- Used dongle to connect to my TV play netflix and amazon prime vid.
8- Connected my logitech keyboard, mouse using usb receiver to the included dongle. used HDMI to connect to Lenovo 34inch screen few tabs open, youtube playing sd all working a quick as my desktop really. (old i7 32gb ram, old quadro vid)
9 Speakers are meh but so are all my laptops for years.
10 - even those $12 usb HDMI capture card works with my camcorder deskcam i used for some lesson in google meet etc.
If you have no other device and only $450 should you get a better touchscreen/pen open box chromebook? Perhaps Ebay used windows desktop and screen?
If you want a macbook this is not it...but i bet it will do 80% of your browsing and streaming same as your $2000 latest macbook pro? Right?
I say SD if you have no $ or prefer to use your $ on other stuff. This thing is great. SD all day I say. For video heavy content creators this might be good enough for your portable device and just spend all $ on desktop. For mac people get this chromebook, a m1 mac mini and giant 34-35 screen.
Just a reminder that this is nice hardware for the price BUT in a few months if something goes wrong you are on you own to fix and scour the Internet for fix. Worried? Get that target i3 HP windows laptop when on sale again.

It'll prob be the opposite of powerful, but the build quality and screen seem nice even at $99.
Thanks OP, rep
Edit - Just throwing this out there. Speed-wise, just know that this is slower than a Raspberry Pi. Don't expect much.
