Nice! Been waiting to get Beasts of No Nation on blu ray so I can watch it without the Netflix compression. The Barnes and Noble closest to me closed down during covid. Gotta go further to find a location that's still in business.

I got these in the past since they're the definitive HD transfers:
The Squid and the Whale
Pan's Labyrinth
Eraserhead

And some french foreign language films that aren't available through other publishers in the states:
Le Havre
Portrait of a Lady on Fire

Can't get Barnes to process checkout on Citizen Kane and Mullholland Drive. Anyone else able to check out? Even called them and no luck.

Oh man I bet Pans Labyrinth looks phenomenal on disc! Is it 4K/HDR? (Don't really care about the resolution, but this is one where I think HDR would really shine)

No, it's 1080p SDR, but they did a new transfer of it specifically for the Criterion Collection to get the colors to match Del Toro's vision better or something. Blu-ray was still very new in 2007/2008, and some movies got really bad Blu-ray releases during that time. Pan's Labyrinth and The Squid and the Whale were big casualties so I'm glad there's better scans from Criterion.

To make things worse, the 4K Pan's Labyrinth is apparently just a 4K upscale of the inferior original Blu-ray release...

Well that's unfortunate but good to know, that at least there a high quality BD version. (Though not seeing it on B&N unfortunately.)
