The control panel consists of two buttons.
The upper button is for espresso dose (factory-set amount: approximately 40 ml.)
The lower button is for the free dose as factory-set, i.e. the user can regulate it. The dose dispensed by pressing this button can also be programmed.
according to OP, 'Must use Lavazza Blue pods'

They all have bad ratings. Any good one suggested?
Got this one last year and love it: County Line Kitchen - Cold Brew Mason Jar iced Coffee Maker, Durable Glass, Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Filter, Flip Cap Lid - 32 oz (1 Quart), With Handle https://smile.amazon.co
I only did instant coffee at home before. Drank most of my coffee on the road or at work.
With WFH most of last year I tried a moka pot, it seemed like more work for every day. I got a Keurig and didn't like it honestly. Then got this machine and loved it.
I do about 1-2 pods a day. Have tried 3 different flavors. Coffee is great. I generally do milk and coffee and never preferred watered down drip coffee. Occasionally I'll try to froth the milk and attempt a latte.
Currently, I do have the latter, but I was thinking it is time for an upgrade. I've had the LB910 model for about three years, and I'm not sure if the LB300 is better, worse or just the same.
Totally agree on the environmental costs of shipping back the aluminum pods -- it's a feel-good solution that gets some to think buying the Nespresso pods is somehow virtuous. It's not. The packaging materials you use when you ship them plus the fuel, etc. required, PLUS the energy used in the recycling process all have an environmental cost.
If you put a little effort into regularly cleaning up your neighborhood, and recycling what you can from the trash you gather, you've more than offset any damage done by using the plastic pods sold by Lavazza (or for the Nespresso machines by companies like Trader Joes and others).

That's another reason why refillable capsules (if the Lavazza blue ones even worked) are a horrible choice. Refilling a tiny pod will be way more tedious than pulling a shot, and you need to do it twice to get a double.
