This box was such a disappointment for me. Philips should really consider their target market a little more for the price they sell this for. Tons of handshake issues, no HDMI 2.1 support, and no sign of a v2.0 with 8K support for TVs or next Gen PS5 or Xbox consoles made this a quick and unfortunate return for me. True statement about rarely being on sale though. If you have a 4K TV and don't plan to use with a modest AV setup, it may be your cup of tea.
Yes it does. The AVR output goes to the the Sync Box and then the HDMI output from the sync box goes to the TV. Works great for me other than some slight hiccups with Dolby Vision that occur infrequently.

You will lose out on 4K @ 120Hz capabilities as the Sync Box has 2.0 ports. Can do 1440p @ 120Hz or 4K @ 60Hz still (which is fine for 99% of current use cases — not future proof though).
No, it needs to be routed through the sync box.

I have 55 inch TV, can I buy 65 inch strip? Will that be too long or it is better to buy 55 inch? Please suggest.

How did you position it on the TV? Did you have to bring the strip inwards on all sides so that it still can reach to the bottom of the TV?
Yes the strip is further inward than they would be on a 75" TV. They don't quite reach the bottom of the TV, but I plan on getting the Ambient Gradient strip to runn all the way accross the bottom anyways. That's my one complaint about the gradient strip, is that I wish Phillips designed it to go all the way around the TV.

How would this look with a frame tv flush against a wall? Would I also have to use a chrome cast or Apple TV since it needs the hdmi to connect to the sync box?

If you aren't doing 120hz this works with ps5 just fine. My kids love it and honestly I'd rather play 60hz with this than 120hz without.

Is the HUM on these strips/controllers gone? It's the biggest annoyance, and is very significant on the regular light strips with no known (?) fix .

Govee has a setup for those interested that does this. Has a camera that attaches to your tv, a led light strip for up to 65inch tvs, works.wirh Google/Alexa and has a phone app Bluetooth wifi connectivity.

This is 400 bucks. The govee is usually 80, now on sale at Amazon for 60 with coupon on product page.

I love my hue bulbs, but then govee rgbic tv kit for 60 bucks kicks ass. And there's no way I'd ever believe the Phillips product that does the same thing is 340$ better.

Nope.

I could have 4 tvs in my home using the govee product that rocks for 240$ and still be 160$ under ONE tv using the Phillips hue solution.
What is the response time from when the camera sees the color and sends that info to the lights to change to match the tv screen ?
$60 is a great price for the GOVEE setup, however if there's a significant lag, then no matter how cheap the price, it would be a waste.

Please advise of your use case experience with govee. Thank you.

I have a similar device with the same issue of not being HDMI 2.1. I just bought a HDMI splitter that does support HDMI 2.1 and split one signal from the AVR back to the TV and one to the light sync device. Worked like a charm.
Are you sure you are getting a 2.1 connection to your tv? The way most of these splitters work is that they'll output the lowest "connection" to every device. So if you connect a 2.0 and a 2.1, both will get a 2.0 connection.

There's a noticeable lag. So if that matters to you, don't get the Govee.

The reason I passed on this is because it will not work with any apps loaded On to a Smart Tv.

As someone who loves Philip Hue and had spent $xx,xxx.xx on only within the Hue brand, I don't believe this is a good value deal. I bought the sync box $206.99 when it first came out with a coupon. The lights are exorbitantly overpriced at this price range. I actually feel like reverse engineering the control box and hacking together some cheaper lights to interface. I will say Philips has made a lot of great progress with the sync. They added many features that allow you to control your sync box through google home and Logitech harmony. Phillip support is also amazing too. I get technology investment costs and inflation but I hope they make these more commodity products for everyone to enjoy. My first LIFX bulb was $80. My first Hue bulb was $50. You might be able to get a color led zigbee bulb for $15 retail. If you like the technology (like i do) then get it. I do believe overtime this type of product will be a race to the bottom. It's a great product I would get for myself but I have trouble recommending it to others even at this price. .https://slickdeals.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10747054&stc=1&d=1635877855

Big hue household here also, $250 base price for the gradients is just outrageous and i refuse to buy into that.

Look into other alternatives like lifx before buying if youre only after the lighting (not the syncbox)

You don't output a 2.0 signal, you send a 2.1 signal to both the TV and the light sync device. The light sync device will still read a 2.1 signal, it just won't be able to pass it along as such so you avoid that be separating the signal first.
