Capital One is launching its first-ever premium travel credit card, Venture X

Here are the initial card details of the Venture X card:

Welcome bonus: The Venture X will launch with an offer of 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 on purchases in the first six months, and for a limited time, cardholders can also get up to $200 in statement credits for vacation rental purchases like Airbnb and Vrbo charged to their account within the first year.

Earning: The Venture X will earn 10 miles per dollar on hotels and car rentals booked via Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar on flights booked via Capital One Travel and an unlimited 2 miles per dollar on everything else.

Statement credit: Up to $300 back in statement credit annually for bookings made through Capital One Travel.

Anniversary bonus: 10,000 bonus miles every account anniversary, starting on your first anniversary (worth $100 toward travel).

Lounge access: Complimentary access for cardholders, authorized users and up to two guests per visit to Capital One Lounges and to more than 1,300 Priority Pass lounges worldwide.

Authorized users: Up to four authorized users can be added at no charge, and AUs get Capital One Lounge access with up to two guests.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck: Up to $100 in statement credits for either TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.

Annual fee:
$395.

Application link: https://www.capitalone.com/credit...venture-x/

This looks like a great card for travel compared to Chase Sapphire Reserve and Amex Platinum. Especially I like the lower annual fee part and the sign up bonus also looks generous.

What is 100,000 worth, if $1000, not good for a $10,000 spend. Thank you
Pointsguy estimated the value around $1850 and you get additional $200 statement credit for Airbnb. This seems decent and I agree $10,000 spend is high, but six months time definitely helps in meeting the requirement.

I agree. I downgraded my CSR due to the fee increase and considering this card now.

I canceled my CSR recently bc of the annual fee. Applied for the TY Premier and got rejected (810 credit score, low credit utilization - seems others are in a similar boat). I think I'll apply for this one. My first Capital One, actually.

Thanks for sharing, OP.

This card is an excellent option for those that do any traveling. IMHO it beats most other travel cards including Amex Platinum. I have the Venture card and I hope I can product change to the new card. I'm not sure I want to take three hard pulls on a cold app.

Thank you. What is the best use of the points to get the $1850 value. Will the priority access allow non rev entry without a seat assignment? Also, can you transfer points to Alaska airlines, for the cheap Florida to Caribbean flights on American airlines? Thanks again, thank you slick deals.

Edit: I mean British airways, not Alaska airlines.

I got charged for my annual fee by CSR on Nov. 1.

How long so I have to get that fee refunded and downgrade to a free CC?

The only way to get that answer quick is to call the number on the back of the card. After all, it IS CSR that's in your hand, and that should entitled you to premium CS.

100k points =

$500 in credit statement OR
$800 in gift cards (physical, no digital unless you link to Amazon or Paypal for redemption) OR
$1000 in travel reimbursement or spend through their agency portal

You can transfer to partners - BA and hotels are 1:1, most other major airlines are 0.8:1 (800 miles for 1000 Venture points). EDIT - most airline partners are currently 1:1 (as pointed out later in this thread). This is different from when I went to redeem a month ago, so I would not count on the 1:1 being a guarantee in the future. Also, fwiw, there are no major US carriers on the direct transfer list.

TPG getting $1850 equivalent is like saying Marriott points are a good deal - only if you use them in a very, very limited way. Ex: if you use BA points to fly American on AASaver fares for direct, shot flights within CONUS then, yes, worth it. As a cash-back program it's pretty poor.

I got approved as well. The application process was fast and quick. I will be traveling overseas in December and hope to use the priority pass lounge.
