You actually don't even need the phone at all. Sounds weird, but as long as you enter an IMEI that passes their compatibility check and qualifies you for the promo, you can just order the SIM and then activate it online. No need to put the sim into a phone at all to activate it. Once it is activated online the service is started, and that is what counts for the 90 days of active service terms.

True story, for this promo I used the IMEI of an iPhone 12 that I got from visible and had already sold(!), but still had the IMEI written down somewhere, and used that to pass the compatibility check and order the SIM card. Once I got the shipping confirmation the next day, I activated my service online (select "I already rec'd my SIM card'), and ported in my expiring Tello number...all before receiving the physical SIM card, which looks like it will be delivered tomorrow.

I've done this BYOD promo several times over the years and never had a problem receiving the git card. They don't check if you are actually using the SIM or phone it was signed up with, just that you have the active line and are paying the bills. Of course, YMMV!
I looked at their site and do not see any option for talk/text only. I also see that you must have Xfinity internet, so many of us do not have any options with them. For those of you who do, sounds like a nice deal.
I used google voice number in the past for BYOD promo and always work. you need to unlock your google voice number from google unlock page [google.com] and pay $3. I recommended to change your voicemail PIN in the google voice setting. This is going to be used by mobile provider for porting. After you complete the unlocking of your GV number, go to xfinity website and place the BYOD order. You should be able to select google voice as your carrier and select "keep my number" to use your GV number. Xfinity will send you the sim card. The porting process start once you receive your sim card and start the activation process. It may take few days to complete the activation. As long as you provide the GV number account information correctly including the PIN (use GV number if you never setup PIN), the porting should be smooth and easy. At the end you need only to pay extra $2 per month for an additional line within the shared plan. .

Do you have to BYOD. Can you get the free samsung a42 from them and still be eligible for the 200 visa card with a ported number? Anyone have any luck?
if you want the $200 you need to byod. the A42 is free after 24 months bill credits. have you been to their website and read the terms?

Why so many questions about getting the gift card and then cancel?

I have AT&T with 6 lines. If I switch to Xfinity:
- I will save $$$ every month
- Using Verizon towers I don't expect any issues with coverage
- Xfinity gives me hotspot (which I don't have with AT&T)

Add in the $200 GC's, and it seems like win, win, win.

What am I missing?

I figure if I do not like it, I can leave and go back to AT&T, but not sure why I would....

Looks like today is the last day, unless they extend the deal. Go for it and save lots of $$$. ATT and Verizon is crazy expensive.

I have an extra phone I want to do this with just for the gift card then sell. Do I need to keep it up and running with the new SIM for the 90 days? Or could I just activate it, call it good, and sell my phone right after that?

i dont think you need to keep it running as long you are paying them for 3 months, thats all they care. obviously they want these new signups to remain long term otherwise they are going to lose a lot of money.

I ordered my Sim cards on Sunday and the delivery got delayed and would now be delivered tomorrow.. Does that impact my eligibility for the $200 BYOD promotion?

My understanding is that order by today and port in within 30 days to be eligible.

So I can order by getting the temporary number then port within 30 days? I understand today is the last day to sign up. I'm still waiting to get the BYOD cash from costco and I think it will be issued in 30 days or less. Once I got the BYOD cash, then I will port the numbers from T-Mobile to Xfinity. Will this work?

You need the port in number when ordering, but can actually start the port in process later.

Great. But they don't need all the port information like PIN and carrier? I worry if I enter that info, then the porting process will take place and I don't want to cancel Tmobile yet until I receive the BYOD cash.

No, just number and carrier.

No you don't need the phone to complete activation; it's all done online. They already have the SIM card number so you do't even need to input that.

Just the phone number when ordering -- they don't ask for account number/pin until activation

I would save everything as a PDF in case you have to contact them in few months:
- promo terms page showing port number within 30 days
- shopping cart showing $200 promo on each line
- review order page just before you hit submit also showing $200 promo
