That frustration doesn't justify calling other members names or worse.
A bunch of bickering, name calling and off topic has been removed.
We're all here for the deals. Please keep that in mind when responding to others here.

I suspect if I jumped on the S I would trade it in once the X was readily available.
I got one this method at launch and a second a few months later. I have no idea what drives selection, but oddly, many selected for launch received a second invite to order as noted on several forums. Good luck.
But thanks for the PS Direct link. Maybe my playing and 'buying' all kinds of PS+ games will help me score a single unit.
Sold it away.
Ur not missing out what so ever..it's next gen hardware but nothing really that stands out so far that these new consoles are must have

it has been close to a year since release and everyone that was willing to pay $700-1000 most likely already have one.
not saying no one will pay $700 since the holidays are around the corner, but the high demand to pay reseller's price has decreased... a lot.
Atleast that's how I understand it
The way it works is, there are a handful of folks on twitter that have made it their goal to monitor PS5 and Xbox drops 24/7. These people keep track of store inventory at Target through insider contacts (really!) and combine this information with historical patterns to basically predict when the next one will be. They are rarely a surprise but because they're not "scheduled" like Walmart or Sony, they aren't as hammered by the general public.
Then, a while before the drop is likely to happen, they fire up a livestream on YouTube that you can listen to while you do other stuff, and they play an alarm when the PS5 is available so you know within seconds. My guy also has videos on techniques to increase your probability based on the specific store you're buying from.
I'm not sure how I feel about sharing the name of "my guy" because I think the PS5s should go to the people willing to do the detective work. But I've definitely given you enough to get on the right track. Look for a console alert Twitter account that does livestreams for drops.
I've been able to score a few manually for friends and family from Walmart and Best buy but it's definitely getting harder.
They are producing a ton of these machines however considering the pandemic circumstances but a lot of just being bought up in bulk again by bots where people can get 20 to 30 a drop. the automation on bots incredible

Your time is more valuable than wishful buying.

my local craigslist has 30+ ps5 resellers compared with 10+ xbx resellers. normally it's dead and you could only find a handful of call of duty popular titles.
