The same tool set as ACME tool, Lowes has it at $99 -- typical black Friday price for this tool set. Haven't saw any lower price in last two years.

It's listed at the advertised 99$ price for the Atlanta market. I noticed on the Lowes webpage, there is a green & black colour block advertising that the 99$ is the "new reduced" price. BS is still down for Lowes, and a few other stores, so happy hunting on the lowes website.

This is my go-set nowadays, excellent quality, has everything you need to get you started, no fillers. Smilie Only wish we could use those $20 Lowes coupons but Lowes has been flagging such orders lately Frown

Military discount works on it, so that will save 10%

This set was front page about 2 months ago at $129. Some stores near me are $99 and others have it at $129.

You don't call the 33 "specialty bits" and 28 hex keys fillers?

The torx bits and a couple of hex keys came in use recently

If that's what makes these non fillers, then no tool set advertised in SD ever had fillers.

I think by fillers, they meant SAE sockets, most vehicles use metric sockets nowadays. I believe that's what the consensus was, but good point

edit: This set has both metric and sae. what's the best metric set you can recommend?

I preferthis [lowes.com] $89, 224 piece set with the traditional Craftsman Toolbox.
No 1/2" tools, but for a beginner set it's just fine.

By the way, the 216 piece Versastack is also $99 at Napa Auto Parts, w/ FS.
My problem with the Versastack is that I couldn't find a component that would
hold additional tools at a reasonable price. That's why I like the traditional
toolbox better.

Does anyone know the sizes of the sockets included? Really only need to know the largest. I have been looking for a set that goes to at least 1 1/2 inches and 38 or so MM.

I'd think fillers like the $40 HF set that comes with some 100 odd tiny nails and crap.

SAE sockets aren't fillers! ever worked on lawn tools? older cars? swingsets? misc equipment? I use SAE maybe not half the time, but certainly more than a third.
