Your reasoning skill is unmatched. Do you understand what is the meaning of starting price in the first place?
And the starting price is normally with the lesser configurations like Ryzen5, 8GB Ram and 256GB SSD. This is one of the highest spec model.

Isn't a slick deal at all. The starting price of Thinkbook 14p had been decided to be $849 when it was announced back in January.

What's the build quality on these? I've been burned twice by Lenovo with the hinges breaking prematurely (as in, 1 year and 3 years respectively), and I don't fancy wasting money on another one if it's not a robust chassis.

Has anyone used a Thinkbook with a Dell WD19TB docking station? Does it work well w/ it? Does the docking station power button turn on the laptop?

One of the better build quality at this price. This is full metal construct, very strong hinge and superb cooling solution.

Go to the below link and you'll see all the available models currently available in USA. You can choose the 5600H model which will have a lot lower price. This coupon works on all the models.

I bought the 14p G2 with 5900HX, 2.8K 400nit OLED, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD for $900 recently (with $100 PayPal offer). Amazing laptop with the best display quality I have ever experienced on a computer, but I ended up returning it due to the OLED panel's PWM flicker that was causing eye strain. I was also getting about 5-6 hours of battery life with normal browsing at 40 to 50% brightness, which isn't terrible, but also not great. Performance and cooling was top notch. Scored 12000 in Cinebench R23 MT.

This config looks good, but I wish the panel was at least 400nits. Lenovo does have a 2.8K 400nit IPS panel, but it looks like it is not available on the 14p.

I had thinkpad T450S back in 2015/2016, used 5-6 years already, still pretty good. Thinking about expanding my home office. This thinkbook seems to be a good idea. Thanks!

Same here. Ive had people tell me that theres varying degrees of build quality with this brand but they burned me too many times. Inexcusable to have crappy build quality when that is the one thing you can control as Lenovo (as opposed to most of the internal parts that are all third party).

There's no GPU here so I'm not sure what you're getting here an okay processor it's better just to get a more budget processor and pay half the price.

If 5800H seems just an okay Processor to you then you are lost and probably should stop thread crapping.
