The previous FP deal here was for the 1TB version (model WDBNHE0010BWT-HESN), this one is the 2TB version (model WDBNHE0020BWT-HESN) for about the same price.

  • Invite your closest friends and family to a private space called the Inner Circle where you can all post photos and videos for each other to see
  • Setup is a snap, plug in your ibi smart photo manager, download the app (available only in English) and let ibi do the rest. (System Requirements: Works with iOS (10+), Android (Ver 6.0+), Windows (7+) and macOS (10.9+), Wireless router for internet connection)
  • Not recommended for purchase outside of the US. ibi is currently designed for US networks and services

I have both the 1TB version from Best Buy and also this 2TB version from Amazon. The are identical other than the storage size. They both work well for my purposes, mainly for automatic photo backups. I didn't have any of the problems that others mentioned in the previously deal (dead device or unable to connect to it). I can confirm the drive can be shucked. It will be similar (white label) to this drive [amazon.com].
Here is a link showing the internals (copied from the previous deal).

I also experimented to see if I could upgrade the drive. I successfully upgraded to use a 4TB 3.5" Seagate drive I had laying around. I cloned the drive and used this cable [amazon.com] to connect the drive, and had to power the drive separately as the ibi won't have enough power for 3.5" desktop drive. I had something similar to this [amazon.com]. It looks messy but works.
Good Deal?

Do you know if custom firmware installation would be possible on this? I can't find any specs of the actual processor. NVM read your post again and found the fcc link. Thanks!

Is this just for people who don't trust cloud storage? I'm struggling to find the use case for this aside from a few paranoid individuals.

The price changed to $164.14 (sold by Amazon.com) about 1 hour after I posted. I assume some people bought it and Amazon must have some algorithm that increased the price. The deal has expired.

The Western DigitalWD Blue WD20SPZX 2TB 5400 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal
is a SMR drive according to one review. It is generally not a good idea to run a NAS like device on SMR.

The price for this ibi is now $55 on Am.

At $41 and shuckable, that was actually kind of a deal for a 2.5" 2TB hard drive. Too bad about being SMR though.

Yes, it's a good price if you need a 2TB 2.5" drive. I plan to use it to upgrade my TIVO Bolt from the original 1TB. It's back down to $47.01 now but may change again.
