Really, most people who just want a mic for spoken word would be better off buying this and an inexpensive audio interface that spending the same amount on a USB mic. I'm not aware of a USB mic in the $200 price range that offers comparable quality *for this purpose*; plus, you'd have the flexibility to try out other analog mics in the future.
To be clear, this is not an all-rounder mic. You might not like it for your purpose. It doesn't get the detail, especially in the high end, of a condenser mic. But it captures a smooth, balanced sound without unpleasant highlights so you can track clear, listenable spoken word with minimal effort or expense.
