I got this not on sale. Not good with my poodle mix. It just goes in and gets stuck. Very painful if I were to keep tugging. Best to just shear mattes off and start new.

Handle is well designed though. Good variety of grips. Seems indestructible. More of a torture device if used on mattes.

I've had various combs that all seems to do that with my dogs, even the serrated blade brush tends to snag. Figured I'd bite on this to see how it'd work for our half persian cats, seems reviews for them look alright.

Are the spikes solid and sharp enough to be used as a meat tenderizer?

so either this will work on the dog as a tenderizer or if the dog starts biting you, you are tenderized? LMAOLMAOLMAOLMAO

A slicker brush with long and firm pins have helped prevent mattes for me. I could never get rid of real serious mattes unless I cut them. So I try to brush every few days. I guess the length of pin depends on the hair length of your cats. And firmness depends the ease of combing.

I got this slicker brush recently, it's been working great! Way cheaper than a Chris Christensen brush. But unfortunately it's sold out when I checked now.

It says items will ship in about one month, but for that price, I don't mind to wait for it. I got $3.75 with tax included

I've got one or two of those around the house as well. I try to keep a "deshedding glove" in the bathroom as the cat always has to come in there to bug me. I throw on the glove with the rubber pad and nubs and that grabs a lot of hair. I think the cat's hair is a little more "slick" then my pomapoo's hair. I imagine the oilyness and smoother texture of the cat's hair makes it a bit easier to get some of the knots out.
