Was about to bite but I believe that these older XT2s come with a Sync Module that doesn't support USB storage. This means you need a Blink subscription to view and store recorded videos…

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

XT,XT2 and Indoor gen 1 have 7200s of cloud storage irrespective of when you bought it. The subscription only applies to other blink devices. Credit to justwanna.

alot of incorrect information. Cameras are used and it's not $12.99 for one, it's for an add on if you buy a bunch of them beforehand

I have a mix of cameras in my setup. I had the system for 4+ years. My account is grandfathered so I have free online storage and I don't pay subscription. As everyone stated, sync module 1 does not support usb local storage.

I think If you buy a sync module 2, and add it to your existing account, you will be forced to pay for cloud storage.

Now the real question is, how good are these cameras since they are used? Anyone ever bough them used from woot?

That is because you were grandfathered in to the free system. Any new customers are required to pay for the service you recieve.

I've received counterfeit UA items and used items that were supposed to be new. Ordered 4 times and had to return every item.

It depends on when you bought the cameras. I had my system since they came out with the original Blink cam Gen1 ( before XT and XT 2)

Here is the response from a Blink tech:

"Hi there, welcome to the community!

For users who have an account that was created before April 15, 2020, they will be grandfathered into the Cloud storage and will not need to sign up for a subscription. For users who created their account after April 15, 2020, there will be a free 30-day trial before they are offered subscription and/or local storage options.

If you need any further explanations or need any help, please feel free to contact my team at [email protected]. We would be more than happy to help you out! "

From the blink faq "Existing Account Storage
Accounts that were created on or before April 15, 2020 continue to have the original 7200 seconds per Sync Module of basic cloud storage.

XT2, XT and Indoor (gen 1) cameras receive 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage per Sync Module, free for the life of the device. This is separate from a subscription plan. When one of these cameras is set up on a Sync Module 2, that Sync Module 2 is assigned 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage just for them."

The way I'm reading it. The 7200 seconds is tied to the device and no plan is required to get cloud storage.

Am I wrong? Does anyone have experience with this?

Does not really matter. At some point they will just take "free" away. Maybe 5 years or so.

Sure. They can always change the terms and people will rightfully be unhappy with that. But it looks like for legacy devices, the cloud storage is tied to the device, not an account. But maybe I'm wrong.
