Was about to bite but I believe that these older XT2s come with a Sync Module that doesn't support USB storage. This means you need a Blink subscription to view and store recorded videos…

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

XT,XT2 and Indoor gen 1 have 7200s of cloud storage irrespective of when you bought it. The subscription only applies to other blink devices. Credit to justwanna.

Not true, I have the old versions and never paid subscription ever, you get X amount of free storage … never been even 5% full

batteries run out quick on these, in high traffic areas when set to best video quality.

would be ideal for low traffic areas.

especially since blink sells a solar charger now ( I do not know if you can buy the blink brand solo charger separately )

Sync Module 1 and Sync Module 2 both have USB ports, but only the 2 is actually usable for local storage. These come with the 1, but this doesn't matter unless you add other models later because you can't use local storage with XT/XT2 cameras, only cloud storage which they get 7200 seconds of for free.

So would this be a better option than Ring? I have a Ring doorbell (not wired) and I pay for the yearly sub, im not super concerned with "saving" videos, I just like being able to have eyes outside my home.

Very true, it drains so fast. Solar power has been saving these cameras for me.

Really misleading title to this thread.

I decided to give it a shot - adding 2 extra cameras on my existing FREE CLOUD STORAGE setup for $20 each is a decent price. New unit prices have gone way up!

I've never paid for a subscription and can access the video clips from my phone - free.

The batteries on my front door camera have lasted over 1 year (2x AA lithium).

This is a good, simple, economical system.

I've been waiting for a good deal on two cameras to finish my perimeter coverage. I went ahead and purchased the three camera set so I can add one in the garage.

is the battery life really 2 years? my area is high traffic, both foot traffic and cars; don't want to climb up and change batteries every 3-6 months
