I would just use a bolt cutter for cutting through barb wire. This would cut it fine but you have to either hold the wire tight or press into it which could tension it and cause it to fling at you when it cuts. I know one guy that lost his sight in one eye from a wire flinging back at him.

Metabo is the German brand. This isn't that.
Metabo HPT was formerly Hitachi Power Tools.

A private equity firm bought them both and confusingly conflated the names.

I bought one of these a while ago (Just the tool) for $20.

The motor burnt out fast, but the bevel gear was really good quality so I got my money's worth on that alone. Good bevel gears and work gears are hard to find for a good price... and they're great to have for building things like router lifts, homemade tools that have varying heights/distances like drill presses, and mini table saws.

So for this price, even if you get 10 hours of use from it (I mean, it is a Metabo, and nowhere near as good as its predecessor Hitachi) it's a good deal.

With the right disc you can pretty much cut thru anything with an angle grinder. As long as you can get power to it this should make short work of barb wire fence. Just be careful. Real careful lol

Get some thin cut-off discs and it should work fine.

Absolutely. But it's possibly faster and more efficient to get a pair of smaller bolt cutters. 14" bolt cutters all over Amazon for $15ish.

Wow, an included molded case, I wish all manufacturers would get there act together and bring these back. The soft side bags stink so bad (looking at you especially Milwaukee)

That is really one of good life lesson. People must hear what he says, and think more than twice, and study well before what they do.

You can get a free cordless angle grinder through Lowe's right now via free gift hack. Shipped grinder to home, store pick-up on battery/charger. They said batt/charger delayed, asked to accept delay or cancel I just pressed cancel button on website and invoice went to $0.00. I actually wanted another battery/charger set so I may try this again. Not all stores have the discounted price @169.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Metabo-H...1001469606

Also they have a 5-tool set with 2 multi-volt batts discounted to $350 at some stores limited available. This is listed at $500 elsewhere online.

Is HPT really downhill from Hitachi? The tools I am seeing them release seem like updated/refreshed versions and it wouldn't make since to buy the company and then ditch existing manufacture facilities / supply contracts all together. And I think Hikoki has a good rep..

Others have said that but angle grinder on a barbed wire under tension is a disaster. Whatever you do, use a face shield and overalls (even with a bolt cutter), make as few cuts as necessary. How about removing the ties on the posts instead of cutting the barbed wire itself?

This is what you want. I work on a ranch in Utah...definitely the right tool for fence work.
