Many years ago I used to love doing shopping with Home Depot more than with Lowes, but I have preferred to shop at Lowes than HD for last 10 years or so because Lowes has treated military much better than HD.
Now, HD is trying to catch it up with Lowes by offering online discount for military. It may be too late for some customers like me, but this is a good start for HD. I hope HD will have some designated parking slots for military soon.
I like to think that my continual whining about this and pointing out that Lowe's does it, is directly responsible for this change. You're all very welcome.
Lowe's does 10% off everything. HD usually excludes sales items and has other restrictions.
They should be able to help you at your local recruiting office.

"The Home Depot Military Discount can only be used on eligible purchases within the $400 maximum annual discount"
Also seems to exclude "building materials" such as lumber, etc. as well as a few other things.
Curious, what did Lowe's do differently from HD for military discount? Did they also offer online or something? At least where I live, Lowe's tends to be more expensive than HD, and HD always had military discount in stores.

Looks like they added a limit of $400 annually now as mentioned before. So they added a new feature (online purchases) and then set hard limits for the year and restricted items it applies to. Sounds like we traded a whole lot to get just a little in return. I don't know about you guys, but I spend more than $4k at home depot a year, so this is more of a blow than a benefit.

They (HD) also won't allow tax exempt along with military discount as if would take a hit on tax exempt and assume military members can't own businesses... Lowe's allows military discounts & tax exemption.
