Just a heads up. These are winter boots, these get very hot if you use them in the summertime.
I bought a pair of similar, winter Columbia boots in 2010; I have been wearing them every winter since then and they still look fantastic. As one commenter stated, these are very warm. However, in cold New England winters, I see this as a significant benefit. These aren't $20 boots, but if they're made as well as they were 11 years ago, they will last a LONG time. And by the way, I use mine when riding my motorcycle in the late fall and early spring, and shifting gears often chews up weaker, cheaper boots. My columbia boots do not have even a mark on them from riding. Anyway, just saying they're probably good boots and worth the price, again as long as the quality has remained consistent over time...
Every time I buy something from Columbia I end up wearing it all the time and lasts me forever, seriously, its weird.

How's the ventilation on these? Obviously they're insulated but is the waterproofing one way so sweat doesn't build up as much?

Columbia seems to be the only shoe company that does not take $3 work of material and mark it up with price and promises.
These are solid boots intelligently designed to be warm and not slip.

For Nike, I go for sizes 9 and 9.5, and for Cat Footwear, I go with size 8 and 8.5. Columbia boots will be my first pair and Columbia store is 45 mins. drive from my place. What size do yoi suggest me to go for with this pair of boots?
I wear US size 16WWW. I got similar Columbia snow boots in 16W and they fit amazingly well, super warm and stay dry. I love them. If I had the room, I'd buy these as well as a backup. (My other pair cost $130.)

I love the bang for the Buck on these mid level Columbia and LL Bean boots but honestly if you need good, long term waterproofing spend the money on real gore Tex boots. I've had two pair like this and they work great for maybe two seasons but eventually they start seeping at the seams. GoreTex will work with the manufacturer to make sure the material is being used in a way that won't cause problems down the road and it works.
That said, I love these kind of boots for commuting on the motorcycle in the winter.

Columbia has a limited lifetime warranty that lasts for the "practical lifetime" of the product. I'd say you have an easy warranty claim unless you abused the boots in some way. 4 months is far shorter than the expected life of a pair of boots.
That's only on outerwear. The warranty on footwear is 1 year from purchase. Source: my rejected warranty claim 2 weeks ago.

Well that sucks. He should still be able to make a warranty claim if they fell apart after 4 months, unless he was wearing them to kick rocks underwater.

For sure. And take my advice for anyone filing a claim, the return instructions will say "include a copy of your receipt if you have one". Ignore the suggestion of it being optional because if you don't provide a receipt (even if you ordered from their site and provided an order number) they will automatically reject your claim and you will be out your return shipping charges.

Bic lighters are amazing and last forever!
OK, what I meant is that nowadays products as Bic lighters are made of plastic, work but have a limited life span.Once it stops working you can't repair them and are expected to just buy another one.

Can't I wear them with Juicy sweatpants like people do in the summer with Ugg boots?

Maybe finally time to retire my old Columbia boots which has lasted me over over a decade. Funny that within the first few months of getting my old boots, one of the hooks for the laces (just like the lace hooks on these boots) ripped off so I couldn't tie the laces all the way up but the soles, laces and the rest of the boot has held up to NYC winters for all these years. I had reached out to customer service and they couldn't replace the boot since it was discontinued but they refunded me my money and told me to keep the boot.
Before that I had a pair of Bugaboots which lasted several years. The rubber on the toe caps cracked because of the snow and salt but damn the rest of the boot was still going strong.
I've also owned multiple pairs of Columbia hiking books over the years and the only reason I've needed to get new ones was because the soles would wear out. Aside from the leather getting a little soft and the insoles wearing out (easy replacement) everything on the boot lasted for years with almost daily wear.

Just bought a pair, went half a size up based on a few comments, will see how it goes. I just need winter boots I can walk to and from work after a snow storm in.

I have had to size up because I feel they run small. I'm the same size as you and I felt comfortable with a size 10 in Columbia.
