EDIT: The 11% back via slickdeals chrome plugin expired yesterday (is now 2.5%), so did the one on ℜαḱυт℮η, but ℜαḱυт℮η's is still at 5%, which still makes this deal slicker than this post here)
Tl;dr: lenovo direct is a very SD'esque place to shop... Crazy deals to find if you're willing to through a through hoops.

If it was still 4+ month shipping, I'd totally understand. But these days, I actually like buying direct from lenovo (esp compared to Dell and HP who can both eat a dik...):

Ridiculous coupon stacking, along with cash back and myrewards pts

No restocking or return shipping fee (unlike HP and Newegg)

CS will likely throw money at you to be happy and/or not return the units

Logistically pretty accurate order tracking (except for the $1150 Legion debacle...)

If corporate gets involved, you'll probably get whatever you want to be happy.

Their machines are actually built well. No issues with my thinkcenter, chromebook duet, any of my old thinkpad X series, or my current Legion 5. No weird rattles, no wimpy cooling fans.

Now, I wouldn't say they're the same as a crazy good place like Costco. Wait times can be bad for phone support, and you have luck of the draw with after-order support, but in terms of online places... They're no worse than Amazon or tmobile in this regards.

You don't need to wait. They give the code at the top of your browser instantly. The only thing that is really holding me back is the feedback on the screen, I can deal with the larger size. Might make writing on it better, but a poor screen is a bit of a bummer. I need to investigate it before pulling the trigger. Otherwise it looks great. Big, but great.

EDIT: I did look it up and the screen quality is actually worse than I feared.

72% NTSC is per Lenovo's own specs [lenovo.com]. That is a really poor performance so I will pass. Big sigh. However, if this is not too important to you, it is worth noting it is a 130W GPU, which is going to game nicely. And at 1080p, it will max it all out for a good several years.

Per a chat I had with support when my cousin bought the 3060 version, it's 100% srgb which is pretty good.

The screen is solid. I just wish it got brighter sometimes.

I don't doubt it depends very much on the user. I do photo editing and video editing, and believe me, I will notice the difference, and not as a small nagging thing. Right now I am very close to pulling the trigger on the alternate 15-incher, albeit for exactly $100 more. 512GB SSD, but smaller and a far superior screen.

Wouldn't it make sense for you to get a 4K HDR screen then?

1080p?

This laptop will max out games with over 60 fps easily for a good 5 years. Maybe even longer if you were to follow the console cycle to which hardware and games are using it as a base point.

This has been a problem with Lenovo's 17" gaming laptops for a while now. They have never offered anything beyond a 1080p, 144 Hz screen. Really disappointing - hopefully next year they'll offer a 240 or 360 Hz screen.
