Boiled water is good for black tea, pasta etc. If you plan on making coffee or herbal tea etc, it's worth holding out for one with a built-in thermometer that automatically stops at 175, 185, etc.

Boiling plain water in the microwave is incredibly dangerous. And also a very inefficient way to boil a lot of water.

Yup. Don't boil water in a microwave, though I've accidentally risked it many times by hitting "+30 sec" too many times. No sudden incident of transition to boiling yet. I still remember a bit from physics class. Heat of Evaporation is 540 calories per gram!

If you boil water in the microwave, add a popsicle stick. Otherwise the water will boil without bubbles and you won't realize how hot it is.

Well, is it all the proofs 'from physics class'? 540 calories has nothing to do with it.

So I did, I do and I will be boiling water in my microwaves!

This product specs do miss the most important factor - the Power of it. Hey, even the Volume they list as 'approx.'!

I'll pass.

Deal is live again. I'll take a chance for $10. Many of these things in this price range or even a bit more expensive have reviews on Amazon about them breaking while being used, scalding people, and needing to go to the hospital... hopefully it doesn't happen as much as they say
