No, you need to scan a Target gift card. There are a bunch at the self check out lanes. So after you scan the Apple gift card, then hit "pay", it will say this is eligible for $15 scan a gift card now. So you scan the target gift card then pay. Your receipt should show both the $100 apple gift card and a "promo gift card" with $15 balance.

If buying multiple gift cards you can reuse the same target gift card and just scan it again, the $15 will just add to the existing balance. I did separate transactions for each Apple gift card to be safe. Also, try to redeem your apple gift cards in the app store ASAP to make sure it's not an empty card.

This becomes an issue every single time a deal like this is posted.

Target considers the promotion in the background as follows: $85 Apple + $15 Target with $15 Apple (bonus).

Therefore, the $100 you pay is split between $85 Apple and $15 Target. Since Red card only gives discount on the Apple one, you get an additional $4.25, not the whole $5.

If we redeem a physical Apple gift card to our account then we can not use it in store? So if you trade in an Apple device to the Apple store, receive a gift card, then apply it to your account, can you then not buy something in store?

I assume this is limited to one gift card per online username/login too?
I've noticed that they've gotten strict and so yup it will be and they will enforce it I'd bet Frown

You can't pay from your account in store… you can buy through the app and pick up in store… at least that's how it's been the last time I tried…

I guess each retailer is being stingy with the GC bonuses
I'm sure it's more about Apple than the retailer… they are going to start getting lower margins in the App Store with the anti-steering rule coming down and Apple will have to adjust… much like they did when they ended iTunes gift cards right around the time they were getting heat for maintain the 30% cut and started the small business program etc…

Was there a limit to how much you can pay via gift cards? I've read in the past Apple limits gift card balances to $2000 but can't find anything concrete. TIA
I think the limit is on how many cards you can use… up to 8 per transaction…

Apple checkout has a limit of 8 gift cards. How to get over that limit to make a bigger purchase like iphone or mac?
I think you can combo the amount stored in your account (up to $2k) and then also use up to 8 gift cards…

Seems simple enough. Basically for an upgrade you could buy online through Apple store, choose whatever old device you plan to exchange, use your Apple gift card balance on your account as payment, have the new item shipped to your home, and ship the used item into Apple. Done deal. Correct?

Sounds right to me… though consider selling your phone on declutrr… I just got $650 for my old iPhone 11 Pro Max… that's basically more than I could have got from eBay and with the none of the selling hassle…

No clue if they will do it the same, but I bought 10 of these last year because I was buying a new MacBook Air. Worked out fine buying cards online in the target app. One per transaction. I kept thinking they'd stop me due to same credit card, but their system did not care. It then worked fine to load my Apple account up with card balances and buy online at Apple Store for free delivery. My wife used those target gift cards with lightning speed. 👍🏻

I wouldn't count on it… the last time they did a $10 for $100 I was blocked after the first purchase…

Can you use the gift card to buy Apple Products from an Apple store in a tax free state?

For example - If I am from NJ and travel to DE and buy an apple product from Apple Store in DE, will I be charged sales tax? I know sales tax is usually not charged in tax free states, but since the GCs have to be added to your Apple account, I'm wondering if they will still use your "Billing address" on the account to charge you sales tax?
