I think he was just telling him that if he's a non gamer then no need to spend the extra few bucks for refresh rate and response time.
This is better than the Lenovo, I have both. This has HDR , 166hz and height adjustable. Definitely worth the price difference .
It is the same in stores.

how are you liking them? is the stand stable?

are you seeing the "3D effect in the corners" other people are talking about?
I have this monitor from Costco. Actually bought before the sale and got the difference back via price protection.

As for the "3D effect," I did notice it after purchase. It's like the image is on a screen a little forward of the backlight. When looking from straight ahead, they line up. When looking at an angle, the "3D effect" affects the edges. For example when looking to the right side of the monitor with your head aligned with the left side of monitor, you kind of see through the web browser scroll bar image into an area behind it that is not backlit...so about a third of the width of the scroll bar is dark (no backlight behind). Not sure if that makes sense. It was kind of odd when I first noticed it but not a problem for me at all. I guess most of the time I'm actually looking at it head on rather than at an angle. When I do view from an angle and the very left or right side of the screen is darkened behind the image, it just isn't something that bothers me. Someone else may feel differently about it.

Pro tips on 144-165hz VA panel 32" monitors. Do not turn up the response time to fast, ultra fast. Leave it at normal response time (default setting) and you will not have ghosting or 3D effects.

If you're not a gamer you don't need a refresh rate over 60Hz imo. Higher refresh rate is used primarily for FPS games. You wouldn't use this monitor up to it's main purpose.

This one might be better for you.
I'm using that right now, just doesn't feel like a very good deal, since apparently it cannot support 1440p75 with 10bpc using RGB or YCBCR444 (nor G-Sync compatibility mode. but I don't care about that)

I got this from Walmart recently and the 3D effect is bad. I'm going to return and get the $200 IPS from Costco instead.

This a good deal for non-gamers?
The IPS 75hz model is great for gaming too unless you are playing competitive FPS games that require fastest refresh rate

I think what you're referring to is the blooming. I have the 4K model (cost nearly $800 before tax) and it's an unfortunate compromise you have to make to get a monitor with a high level of HDR/brightness. You only notice the blooming when the screen turns completely black so it's not noticeable 99% of the time.
No, it's not blooming. It's a literal 3D effect between the monitor and the laminate in the corners. It was totally noticeable on scroll bars when looking straight ahead. The down arrow of the scroll would look like it was standing off of the screen.

I took it back and bought the Gigabyte 32in monitor and absolutely love it.

Just got the $200 LG IPS from Costco [costco.com] and have them sitting side by side. The color, sharpness, contrast, brightness, and viewing angles are far superior on the IPS. It has a TINY bit of the 3D edge at extreme angles, but it isn't really noticeable. I don't think the refresh rate on the VA panel could overcome the poor picture quality or annoying edges.

I purchased 4 of these (which is the limit per customer), 2 for me and 2 for my wife. They replaced 27" Samsung Space Monitors. We mainly did it for the increased display size and the addition of HDR. I've set them up and they already look amazing. I game on PC on one monitor and on Playstation on the other (switch input to HDMI). Battlefield 2042, Halo Infinite and Final Fantasy 14 all run and look very good. I haven't noticed any dead pixels or weird effects. The monitors are mounted on a dual arm desk clamp, so I can't comment on the included stands.

It comes with an included DP cable. The power cable/brick is ridiculously short and wide, I had to use a short extension cord on each of them to fit them on my UPS.

I used this for work (excel) and gaming (mostly apex) and it's been great for both. No weird corner 3D effects

Trying to decide between these two models. Would you say color on IPS model is great improvement over VA model. How is IPS model for gaming

Dumb question, but would anyone mind telling me if this comes with displayport or hdmi cables included? Mine should be delivered 11/24 and as the next day is a holiday, I would like to buy cables in advance if they are not included.

Edited to add for others: another poster states this includes a displayport cable.
