And your definition of screen real estate is unconventional too - typically it is absolutely about how much can be seen on a given browser window, etc. This is a function of pixels and scaling, yes, but a 4K monitor at 200% scaling for you will look amazing, I use 125% and I can absolutely fit more work on my screens and have it be very clear than you could approach on a large 1080p panel like you describe.
1440p text on a 32" is a little blurry for me, but that's what I use for a gaming monitor and you're right, in games it's much harder to tell but it's nice not to play the 4K pixel tax!

1080 is completely fine for office or WFH use at 32". You may want a desk that's 30" deep (Ikea) versus the traditional 19" or 24" that you see with junk amazon furniture, but whoever is complaining about "seeing pixels" and it's unusable performance is jumping on the bandwagon or just a snob.
Sure 4k is gorgeous, but you really can accomplish office work, gaming, or movies with a 32" 1080p monitor. I wouldn't go any bigger than that. But don't buy the hype and think 4k is mandatory.
HOWEVER -- At $329 this is still a good deal for a 4k curved monitor. At $200 you can also get a solid 1080 monitor, or 2 of them for $400. Personally I go for real estate versus nitpicking if I can see a jaggy on a PDF that most likely has some sort of smoothing anyways.
Also I'm not even sure what you're saying regarding real estate. A 4K monitor has 4x the "real estate" of a 1080p monitor.

I wouldn't care about it for productivity which is what this monitor seems better suited for.
