Most air fryers have that plastic smell when 1st used but it does go away. My 8 qt Gourmia & 6 qt did the same. Just do a burn-in inside your garage a few times then your good to go. I read it's a coating on the plastic that's burning off.

Have you been living under a rock? There is probably a cargo ship full of them stuck out in the ocean somewhere. Be lucky there is still food to eat on the shelves.

Edit: See my comment on around page 5 what I did to eliminate the plastic smell.

I will confirm this post. We had the same experience but had to return it because we didn't want to deal with it.

Doesn't sound too healthy. Anyone know why this coating is applied to the plastic in the first place if it burns off after a few times of use anyway?

btw, last week these were not in stock at the 2 store I visited. I inquired at the desk, they said they're listed as "new" so no store delivery date was available.

Went to Costco today right before closing at 815pm ish and there were probably about 7-8 left near the front of the store. Pretty good deal at the $39 price.

Could never get the smell to go away or even worse the taste, tried with 2 different ones.
Looking now for a toaster oven style air fryer without the non stick bs coating.

I have this air fryer. The Ore Ida shoestring fries sold at Costco come out better than McD's. As long as you don't overload the basket so that there's enough surface area for the convection to work its magic, shoestring fries are hot and crispy. We've tried other styles but they're not nearly as good as the shoestring.
