FYI - Eddie Bauer no longer has a lifetime warranty. Everything looks to be only a year now.

I bought this last year and didn't like it at all. The fit ended up being rather baggy and it was VERY thin. Just be aware when you buy this that you're buying basically a shell, not like a winter coat.

And yesโ€”it did smell very bad.

From their returns section it does appear they permit replacement after a year but up to management "All products that are deemed defective without proof of purchase, as well as defective products older than one year, are only eligible for exchange or replacement with a similar item, at management discretion."

Junk brand. Both the pockets lost stitches in first week. Walmart jacket would have lasted faaar longer than this

Not sure on the made in China part but I have noticed their quality went downhill plus during covid I'm sure people were taking plenty advantage of that return policy. They couldn't afford it anymore. Side note, the EB shorts I got from Costco like 3 or 4 years ago are still going strong.

I grabbed one of these 2 years ago, and it has been fantastic. No it doesn't have North Face or Patagonia construction, but I haven't babied it and it has held up fairly well, and it is warm enough even in single digit temperatures with appropriate undergarments.

My only gripe is the lack of a hem cinch, which I feel would make it meaningfully warmer on very cold days, especially windy days. That aside, and given it's price, I think it is a great value for a brand new down jacket from a reputable company.

This is a very light duty coat. When it came I thought how the hell does a jacket fit in that pouch. It looks good but be vewy vewy careful with it.

I just returned this very jacket to my local Eddie Bauer store tonight. I was able to get the smell issue out with a good wash, but it took awhile for the feathers to stop coming out the seams and other random places. This is not a true 650 fill jacket, or at least it does not have the same loft and warmth that 650 fill jackets from other brands have. Eddie Bauer customer service is no longer based in North America and when you call there are language comprehension issues with the representative. My local store really struggled with the return and ended up charging me instead. They refunded that but then struggled with the return again and my credit still has not shown up on my credit card. Eddie Bauer is just not the same quality brand and store it once was. The lifetime warranty was the reason to trust Eddie Bauer as some product manufacturing just does not have quality control. Now that the warranty is one year, it just is not worth the risk. Unless you are looking for a cheap jacket that will eventually be disposable, stick with a quality brand like Patagonia.

FWIW, anytime you buy products with feathers you will mostly deal with them "coming out" at some point. I have numerous feather pillows and they always have feathers sticking out. It happens with jackets mostly too. The only way they could avoid this is cutting off the points of the feathers.
