FYI - Eddie Bauer no longer has a lifetime warranty. Everything looks to be only a year now.

I bought this last year and didn't like it at all. The fit ended up being rather baggy and it was VERY thin. Just be aware when you buy this that you're buying basically a shell, not like a winter coat.

And yes—it did smell very bad.

I thought Eddie Bauer jackets would have some quality control. Alas, the down jacket I bought shed like crazy. I am like a bird shedding small medium large feathers all over after wearing this jacket. Decided to use it only as my walk jacket where it can shed all it wants. Done with any doen. Will make sure next time I buy down alternative. Would rather use my 10$ on socks and bags

I'm three years into mine, and it's still ticking - even after multiple washer/dryer cycles (with wool balls and a spare, clean Croc). No tears. Only few peeking feathers. Maybe I'm lucky with previous manufacturing. It certainly wasn't $40. Also, I've had best results after investing slightly in down-friendly Down Wash detergent (small bottle last a long time).

Choose your color carefully. Collars on down jackets spend a lot of time around your dirty neck.

As for sizing - I'm 5'9" and 185, and a Medium is good. I usually wear it over a hooded sweatshirt for all but the coldest mornings. It's pretty toasty for a light-weight piece of gear.

Yep the feathers do keep coming out randomly. Same reason I returned to Costco 2 years ago.

We have six of these in our house (mostly the hooded version). They are fantastic for the price. Light weight and warm. Great for hiking, cold weather backpacking, and everyday use. I am 5' 8" and 165lb and I'm happy with a medium. Having both models, I prefer the hooded version.

Someone said the Sam's version (with hood) wasn't the same mood model. I'm not sure about that, but last year Costco carried these and they do say CirrusLite on the tag on the inside.

For those that care about weight, my hooded version weighs 10.7 oz.
