I recommend going through web browser to sign up. Create an account, then do an annual subscription, apply the promo code before charging.
If it processes successfully, check under Promo Codes for Status "Applied", then go to Billing history. If it says "$39.00", then you're good for a full year.
Some show recommendations:
Sharpe - Napoleonic era military drama starring Sean Bean (adventure type of show)
Agatha Christie's Poirot, and Agatha Christie's Miss Marple - Two very niche mystery characters that get plenty of seasons of whodunit episodes (personally I am a fan of Poirot)
Luther - Mystery show starring Idris Elba (believe me, with how many times he got shafted for his acting talents in movies, he's done prominent work in TV and this is one of his best)
Line of Duty - Recent good cop drama
Midsomer Murders - Another mystery drama, but it's styled as one of those small town types
"Any good comedy show starring Rowan Atkinson" (such as Mr Bean, The Thin Blue Line, Blackadder) - One of the best physical comedians imaginable, and Mr Bean alone is one of those universally good comedies
Fawlty Towers - Another good comedy show, though it does show its age
House of Cards - Classic drama show that the US version (with Kevin Spacey) is based on; definitely worth a watch for something in a similar vein
Downton Abbey - Another drama that found its place on PBS, but is fully available to watch
Doctor Who - Yes, one of the big ones. Appears like Seasons 1 thru 26 are present here on the service (from 1963 to 1989). No sight of any nu-Who, though. And do NOT expect every episode present. There will be some missing, but anyone who is used to Doctor Who will be aware that not every episode of the series pre-2000 will be available.
Red Dwarf - Spacey/sci-fi comedy. It's good and niche.
Overall, these are a bunch of the real good British shows I was able to find in my digging around. I'm sure there's other gems in the mix and are encouraged by others to be recommended.

BTW, Line Of Duty is outstanding!
Anyone have any suggestions/ideas?
I did, incidentally, put in a support question/ticket with BritBox to see if they might provide some answers; I can let you all know what they say, if anyone else is thinking of doing the same?
Thanks OP.

I love Britbox, but I am currently already on an annual plan.
Therefore, this promo won't work for me...but I do recommend it for anyone who likes British TV!
