YMMV - Verizon Upgrade Offer - $650 trade-in (maybe $800) (bill credits) towards any iPhone 13 w/ existing unlimited plan with an iPhone 6 or newer

Just received a text the other day from Verizon offering up to $800 off any iPhone 13 for upgrading as a current customer via trade-in. The most I was seeing before was $350 to $400 for upgrading or for switching to AT&T or T-Mobile with an iPhone 7 trade-in (which is what I have). Currently they are offering $650 to trade-in (via bill credits) an iPhone 6 or newer towards an iPhone 13.

If you have an older phone & are on Verizon this seems like a great deal if you just want to upgrade. Check your account to be sure.

I didn't see this deal posted yet & wanted to be sure to let everyone know. I have no clue how long this lasts.

Update - Apparently an iPhone 6 or newer is eligible for trade-in offer of $650. Just checked based on another comment. Also, probably much better to do 24-month bill credits as opposed to 30-months.

Update 2 - Just went through the process for 3 phones - (2) iPhone 7 32gb black & (1) iPhone SE 2020. They showed as $800 estimated trade-in credit. I wonder if this will be the new black friday deal they're having come out in a few hours that their website shows. I'll update if everything works out or if they try to pull things when I get the new phone and trade at store.

Update 3 - It looks like this is a loyalty offer of some sort. I saw other posts on the Verizon subreddit mentioning the same deal. It looks like not everyone gets the same offers. For background, my family have been Verizon customers since ~2011 & we switched to Start Unlimited (current plan) back in ~2016 I think if I recall. I picked up 1 of the iPhone 13's for one line today but I won't know until I get the trade-in mailer to send it out (my old iPhone 7) to know if they give me the estimated $800 trade-in for a bit. Wishing everyone good luck with this, I hope everyone is able to get it, but based on comments it sounds like the type of phone (postpaid vs. prepaid), the condition of your phone & your account plan/how long it's been since you upgraded play into whether this offer shows up for you. We were actively looking to switch to T-Mobile w/3 lines and all of our phones were older iPhones (7 & SE 2020) that were paid off so I'm guessing they factored us as potential customers that would leave which is the reason for a better than normal offer.

Targeted Retention offer for existing customers.

Originally $800 credit. Now looks like $650. Paid out in credits over next 24 to 30 months (as chosen by user). Leaving the plan earlier forfeits remaining credits not yet paid out.

Requires use of an Unlimited Plan (including Starter).

So if I get this offer - the 650 comes in credits per month. Does that mean if I switch off later on I will need to pay back the credits and/or lose the rest of my credits?

I believe you lose the remaining credits and have to pay off the remaining due for the phone. I would recommend this deal if you were already planning on staying with Verizon. I wanted to switch to T-Mobile myself but they are only offering $400 trade-in for my older iPhone 7 & it's just too big of a gap so I'd rather stay for another 2 years with the 13.
