Also note the cricket version has 4GB of memory and 128GB of storage.
This is different from "standard specs" of 6/256.

That said, not a bad choice for cricket customers to buy a number and port-in for a 5G phone.

To upgrade, I buy a number, choose to buy for $69 and port in a number. Do I have to activate it on a $60 plan, or can I just swap the SIM from my existing phone?

This is exactly what I did. Just swap the sim from the existing phone and you're set.

Cool thanks. So the $60 just remains on the account as a credit?

Yes, do not activate the SIM you purchased and after 30 days the $60 will be credited to account.

Wondering how does that work if you have to make a new account to get the deal? Fine print says "Requires new line and new account."

I was thinking the poster wanted to add a line to an existing account and was going to buy a number on eBay to port over?

I think if you do it that way, you won't get the phone for $50. I think the best you could do would be to get the phone on a new account with the $60 plan, and downgrade right away to $30 plan and combine accounts. That way you'll keep $30 of the $60 at least. If there's a better way, please do share!

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused. Could someone explain a bit more detail. I'm cricket customer needing to upgrade my existing phones due to the network upgrade in February. Prices for port in new number are much less than a simple upgrade. If I understand I can buy number and port in to get the lower price. Then swap sim from existing to new phone to keep existing number. Does this count as activating the new phone? And don't I now have an extra line on my plan? Thanks to whoever can enlighten me a bit.

If you select "current customer" and then "I'm bringing a number to cricket", it still shows the promo price of $49.99 so it should work.

You would buy a number to port on ebay. Then you'd add a line to your current account and port the purchased number over. When the phone/SIM arrive, do not place SIM into phone otherwise it will activate it. ALSO do not click any "activate" email links they may send you or any "activate" buttons in your Cricket account. You could then place your current SIM into the new phone. After 30 days, the new line will fall off the account and you should be credited the month service you paid for when you bought the phone.
