Price matched at Apple over the phone. First agent I spoke to refused since the store isn't on their price match list, but second agent I spoke to did so without issue.

Just FYI

Education price on the 10/16M1 16gb 1TB is $50 cheaper than this.

I recognize the argument about qualifications over education price, but Apple is pretty liberal with their qualifications, and rarely, if ever, checks.

Perhaps consider yourself a student of life?

Buying an M1 I'd make sure to purchase from somewhere easy to return if you're a current Mac owner....Your experience will either be awesome!, or you'll have trouble with that one app you really must use. Most of this is cleared up now, but some software has been slow to recompile for M1.

Can you link to what you're saying? I don't see any Apple Education discount for the MacBook Pro reaching these prices, instead the education is $50 more expensive than this.

From the link above posed by OP:
M1 Pro 10-Core CPU - 16-Core GPU - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD $2299.99

From apple education site:
https://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop...e-gpu-1tb#
M1 pro 10 core CPU, 16 core GPU, 16GB memory 1TB SSD $2299.99

Honestly I'm not quite sure where I got $50 cheaper above (I might have been lookin gat the 8 core CPU)...my bad.... but either way this is the same price as buying direct from apple using education pricing.

Simply Mac has the 16" M1 Pro w/ 1TB storage for $2,349.99, which is $350 off MSRP. I used B&H's online contact form to get a price match, and they emailed me back 2 minutes later with a single use promo code to match that price. B&H's price matching form can be found by clicking on Contact Us, then selecting "Sales Department" and then "Price Match Request".
