This should appear under your offers (where you would normally see cash back deals). You do NOT have to add it to your card. It should also show up when you visit the gift card redemption page. This is only available for Blue Membership Rewards cards, not miles or cash back cards. The website says to order cards before 12/7 to ensure delivery before Christmas eve.

The discount is titled 20%, although it should really just say "all cards are 20% discount except 1-800 Flowers, which is 5%, and CPK, which is 30%". It is available on ALL the traditional denominations for each card, digital and physical.

The following cards and deals are available:
1-800 Flowers - 5% discount
Apple - 20% discount
Athleta - 20% discount
Bath & Body Works - 20% discount
California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) - 30% discount
Delta - 20% discount
Gap - 20% discount
Panera - 20% discount
Ruth Chris - 20% discount
Saks Fifth Avenue - 20% discount
Under Armour - 20% discount

(If you take the inverse of the discount you'll get the point value increase. So 20% discount in points = 25% increase in point value. Apple goes from $0.0085/pt to $0.0106/pt. Delta goes from $0.007/pt to $0.00875/pt. CPK goes from $0.01/pt to $0.0147/pt!).

If you were to have accidentally added a cash back offer on your MR card instead of your cash card and therefore received the offer as MR points instead of cash, this is a good opportunity to make up for that mistake...not to mention do better than redeeming your points for $0.007/pt at Amazon.com. For example, Amazon might be $10 off $50 on your AMEX Blue cash card, but on the AMEX MR card it might be 1000 pts back on $50, which isn't exactly 1:1 unless you redeem for $0.01/pt gift cards, which generally is reserved for basic restaurant cards. At $0.007/pt that's only $7. So now you can get $0.01/pt or more with some of these deals.

The 5 pts/$ spent at Amazon.com annual offer certainly becomes more valuable. Spending $300 at Amazon got you 1800 points (1 pt/$ + 5 bonus points/$), which usually is enough for $12.60 in value at Amazon.com at $0.007/pt for example. Now? 1800 points is almost enough for $25 at Bath & Body Works (was 2500 pts, its now 2000 pts).

Are you saying to buy gift cards directly from amex? I'm confused by your post.

I have 9000 points on a card I rarely use but I'm not seeing any discounts other than on a CB2 gift card. I'm not even sure what that company is.

Are we redeeming through the amex side or through Amazon. I think I'm still confused.
